I am a new seller on ebay, and i am wondering if its safe to ship with Fedex / UPS (private couriers company) to the states, since i read other posts how fedex charges outrageously on duties/customs etc. or should i just go with canadapost?

All my items are $50USD or below.
Please give me some advice

Thanks

As a shipper both companies are safe...the fees incurred are the buyers responsibility.

I believe the posts you have read are from buyers and items coming into Canada.

Shop around a bit, Canada post may be a little cheaper than UPS/FED EX/PUROLAROR..etc..

to answer your question..(is it safe to ship with Fedex / UPS?)....I would say yes it is, you could always add insurance on to your items before you ship them out for added peace of mind..

Couriers usually include the first $100.00 in insurance coverage with their fees as well, that many Canada Post methods charge extra for. They will also provide delivery confirmation with signature that Canada Post charges extra for.

Both insurance and delivery confirmation can be helpful to the seller in case of a Paypal chargeback for non delivery/damage.

Nothing but bad exp with Fed Ex and UPS. They don't give a **** about your items at all. I've had people post fake tracking info on the site saying I was not home, have had things left on my property with no notice, and have delivery person not showing up for the delivery.

Stick with Canada Post or use DHL if you want to ship with a private company.

I've sold several items on Amazon.ca and used only Canada Post. Mind you, I only shipped stuff in Canada but the reasons why I went with CP was mainly cost. Just make sure that you ask for tracking (never assume anything with anyone!) and if it is an expensive item see if you want insurance on it. Insurance isn't very expensive at all.
