I would like to unlock LG 2000 (currently on contract w/ Fido) and use it with Rogers, either online or in downtown Toronto or Etobicoke? I tried calling Fido but they do not give away subsidy codes anymore as they now offer roaming. I also tried putting my Rogers SIM card into the phone, but that did not work.
I had to unlock another phone a couple of years ago, but it was literally last minute, and the only place I could go to at that time was Eaton Centre, and I had to pay $40+tax, which I think is a bit excessive for the similar phone.
Any suggestions?
I will not go to PMall, and if you suggest some place in Chinatown, please let em know if they do it right away, or I need to leave the phone with them for some time.
PS. I found the place on Younge and Sheppard (a bit out of the way), but they are saying LG2000 (Fido not supported). Not sure why that is.

I am not sure if the deal is still on, but rogers had a promotion earlier where they would unlock fido phones for free to use on the rogers network if you switched to rogers from fido. You should search the forums here and see what the exact terms of the deal was.. but if I were you I would just call fido retentions and have them beat any rogers plan that is currently out there.. fido retentions are much more generous than the rogers agents.

No such promotion exists from Rogers where they unlocked fido phones, that is False information. perhaps a independant retailer was doing it? if thats the case, they can do what ever they want but it does not make it official rogers promo and it can end at any time.

BTW, the LG 2000 is such a cheap phone, why would u want to use it on Rogers? for the price you will probaly be paying to unlock it, you can probaly pick up a very cheap or low cost Rogers or unlocked phone that works betterr than the LG2000. I'd say think bout it, you can pick up a nice gsm phoen for 20-40 and it will probaly work BETTER than the lg2000
