I'm building a computer and here are my specs so far:

Asus P5K-E
Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4GHz
8800 GTS 320MB
WD 500GB

According to many websites I heard that since the Q6600 is 2.4GHz and I'm not going to overclock, the best RAM to get is DDR2-667, since 667 * 4 = 2.6GHz, so about a 1:1 ratio. But other people have been telling me even if you don't overclock to get the 800 or 1066. What should I do? And what's the best brand of RAM? I've always been a fan of Corsair but now it seems that Crucial is beating the...

Thanks

You can get more performance by running RAM faster than 1:1, however the difference is marginal.

If DDR2-800 is a few bucks more, then go for it. If not, you're not missing much.

No reason not to get DDR2-800 when the prices are this low.

There's no such thing as "the best ratio." You're not aiming for 1:1. You want as fast as possible.
