I received a notice(48hr notice) that all units are being inspected in the building for the annual inspection. I just wanted to know is this normal to do this. If so, what are they looking for or what is the purpose of this inspection.

It just seems a hassle because they had made a notice earlier in the last month but were not able to proceed so now they want to do it on this new date. I've got nothing to hide but just kind of find it weird that they do this.
I've never experienced this at other locations. Does anyone have any experience or know of legalitites to this. I'm just worried of people walking in/out of my unit because the building is not the safest in terms of other tenants and I have alot more valuable things inside as opposed to fellow tenants. I won't be home at the time, so I just want to know how this works
and what to expect.

Yes, it is legal (at least in Ontario, don't know about other provinces) and actually not that uncommon. They usually just inspect for damages or things that should be repaired due to wear and tear, it's really just a way of protecting their investment. Nothing to worry about.

Yup it's perfectly legal when 48 hour notice is given. If it's possible you should take your smaller valuables to your parents place for safe keeping.

I used to do inspections like this.

I would expect that some stuff would missing and someone will sniff your underwear. That's just been my experience on the other side of the coin.

Just set up a webcam or two around the unit and put up a sign, "rooms electronically monitored."
