What's your feeling about using 12" screen laptops?

I'm looking at buying a laptop, and I'm attracted to the 12" screens, due to portability, but on the other hand, I'm wondering if it's actually TOO small.
My wife has a 14" laptop, so I can relate to that size, but never having used a 12", I don't really know what to think.

What has your experience been?

I've used both sizes and find the 12" laptops a little too small. They're great if you need the portability. However, be prepared to scroll a lot more when surfing the net and reading documents.

I currently use a 14.1" HP laptop and find it to be a good balance of portability and functionality. I've never liked laptops with 15.4" screens, I find them too big for my use.

In the end, it all depends on your computing needs. If you are a heavy user, a bigger screen size will be better. If you are on the go a lot and use it casually, a smaller laptop is great.

My hands are a little big for a 12" laptop. I really like them, love the portability, but for extended use, they don't work for me. I have the 14" 640m and it's just fine.

Consider a 13" laptop, I have an asus w7s-b1b its great. Also dell's top of the line xps 1330 is 13.3".

You cant go wrong, you're getting the best of both worlds :cheesygri

I went to best buy yesterday to take a look at their selection of laptops, just to experience a 12" laptop side by side to a 14".
Honestly, I didn't really mind the size.
The screen may be a little on the small size, (at least with the hi res screens) but otherwise, I didnt' mind them.

Now to find a reasonably priced ($500) used unit...

I used a 11.3" at 1024 x 768 before, pretty usable.

I have also used a 12" as well on my fujitsu and I really don't mind it, I have had the laptop for 4 years and I have worked on it for a few hours at a time. One you get used to the keyboard it's fine. I really like the 12" because I could carry it to class and not worry about the weight. If you are using it for school, I would really consider the 12".

Ok. It seems that 12" isn't really that bad.

Am I correct in assuming that the 12" widescreen laptops are almost as wide as the older 14" laptops that weren't wide screen?

I use a 10" widescreen laptop and i don't find it difficult, and its the best size for traveling.
