I need to create a one page website with links to my photo galleries. Sort of an online portfolio of my work.
This is going to be a really simple website so i don't wish to spend any money on making it... What is the best way to go about it and anyone would be kind enough to help me.
thanks.

If you just need ONE SINGLE page, some registrars offer that at no extra cost when you register a domain name with them. (I guess you ARE using a domain name, aren't you?)

i figured you could go for MS Frontpage or even Word if it's going to be really simple.

I only need the oil changed on my car, which is really very simple compared to other things that might be done to a car, so will someone do it for free?

LOL! TO be fair, if I own a garage, I wouldn't mind giving people I know a free oil change once in a while.
Believe it or not, I am hosting quite a number of websites totally free (and even register domain names on their behalf OUT OF MY POCKET) for people I know. The marginal cost is negligible for most personal websites.

Yeah, so do I....the difference is, they are friends and family. Would you do it for a stranger?

Not all of them were exactly "friends" when it started (more like friends of friends if you know what I mean), but I come to know these acquaintances much better down the road. I also host some non-profit projects totally free (not even with a link back). I don't mind doing that even for a total stranger if there's a paying is not a good option for him or her, AND it's a good cause. (But then it RARELY happens.)

I'm not going to bug you for those few bucks if you promise to buy me a Venti coffee at Starbucks every few months. :D

Are you talking about personal photos (family snapshots, etc.) or hobby stuff or are you looking to promote the photos for sale or your services as a photographer?
If it's just for family and friends then pick a free host that offers an online editor and make your own.
If you are looking to promote photos or photography services professionally then pay someone to make a simple PROFESSIONAL site.
