Is it standard practice to receive a phone call when summoned for jury duty? Everything I have read suggests that you receive a letter in the mail. Any ideas?

No, I've never heard of that, but I have seen, on two separate occasions, when the jury pool was spent without having picked 12 and the sheriff was sent out on the street to replenish it.
I'd call the courthouse first thing in the morning to check if I were you. It is unusual, but not completely unbelievable.

Hey TRINI make sure you put in jail for life those panhandlers that killed that guy from St.Catherines.

Well, it is true...apparently the letters are sent out from London and this was so last minute they didn't have time to mail them out, so they just started phoning people. Not a good time at work for this! I just know I'm going to get picked!

Let that be a lesson to all to stay clear of court houses.

I wouldn't even have the balls to pretend to be ignorant in public! Guess I'll just have to suck it up!

The trick is to say you're prejudiced against all races.
