View Full Version : Send rogers text message by email or something?

It seems all providers offer cell@provider.com which forwards to your cell via SMS. Is there some way I can send a text message to myself without going through the rogers site and having to verify I'm human?
I actually want to send myself automated messages based on various things I have going on... It would be less than 5 a day...

Send an email to:
4165551212@pcs.rogers.com
With "4165551212" being your phone number. Be warned, last time I checked, Rogers has a wacky, weird and wonderful email verification system. You'll find out when you try sending the email to your phone.

Hmm, it works... but there is no way I want to waste a sent text message each time I get one of those...
That method just won't be feasible...

I believe there's some way to "always accept" emails from particular addresses, etc. Or there's a $5 direct email to sms option or something like that.
Basically, Rogers made email to phone completely useless, or a money making cash cow. :( I stopped using it about a year and a half ago myself. I had the same idea you had. BUT, they could always change it at some point, so I always try to figure out a better way or check in once in a while.

I tried this and it said that I have a message waiting but I'm not subscribed to this service. There for If I reply, I'm agreeing to subsribing!!!

I use this to send myself messages, you do have to validate outgoing, but since it's free to receive messages on Rogers it works for me.
Just don't add your cell number to your free account ;)

no charge
I'm trying to figure some stuff out with Rogers myself. I was sent an e-mail message to my phone, and had to accept this subscription in order to retrieve the e-mail. Didn't cost me anything.

Looks like you may be right:

Now I'm guessing that it's actually a flag they just have to flip as I'm no longer part of any data or text messaging plan and I can still receive emails, though I still need to reply saying I want to retrieve emails.
The only other alternative I can see if using an SMS gateway, though I've yet to find a free one that isn't sketchy.
