this price is pretty good considering it is a tablet.

Lame warranty kills it. Tablets are prone to trouble, from the digitizer, to the swivel, then the usual stuff that plagues a normal laptop. If it was a half decent warranty even 6 months i would be ok.

Guess it is not such a good deal after all.

Its a hard call, b/c the cheapest new tablet are the hp's that start at $1200 twice the price.

Some visa's provide extra protection.

Does anyone know of a company offering a warranty on such a product?

the m200 is pretty old school (4 years old I think), so it's a tough call. can you find a cheaper tablet? probably not. but is it worth it to get a brand new tablet at twice the price? hard to say.

that said, i use to have one of these and had absolutely no issues with it. was a really solid machine that i used for about a year before getting my laptop upgraded

deal is great but got to keep this in mind.

512 ram. barely usable winxp let alone vista.

solo processor. (I use vmware to do some development work so this is a big issue for me)

personally i have gone through a big fiasco with toshiba's rma for 3 months and never got the digitizer working right (on the older model) in the end i took a huge loss and sold it off.

anyone looking for decent tablet and not concerned about price should consider ibm x61.

i had my eyes on fujitsu but i have held their demo units and felt they can't compare with the ibm.

The only thing to be concerned about is to have the recovery cd's. We have one of these M200's at work and it needed to be reformated and the only possible way is to have the factory recovery cd's. Of course I got lucky and someone was selling them on eBay. If you do have the discs, you cannot boot them, or any other cd, from any ordinary external cd drive...only the factory one from toshiba. So if you have the cd's, you can then do a PXE boot to reformat. Honestly none of this is really an easy task and annoyed the crap out of me.

Wow, this is a steal. And as for the warranty, for this price, i would consider this 'disposable', so i wouldn't be upset if it failed in a year or two.
