View Full Version : Rogers Internet - New signups - $200 off Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii
sgdnfan
Aug 30th, 2007, 12:29 PM
(Apologies if this is a re-post, I searched but couldn't find anything).
I was in Rogers Video (trying to take advantage of that 2 for $30 deal  ) when I saw a sign that said $200 off a XBox 360, PS3, or Wii.
Apparantly, this is for new internet signups only. So that means an XBox 360 would be $199, PS3 $349, and Wii $89.
I'm not sure of the terms of the contract (there were no details on the sign). But could be a good deal for someone if they are thinking of making the switch.
(btw: this was in London at the Cheapside location, I'm assuming this is nation-wide. The promo supposedly started Aug 28th, and I think it runs until December).

I think that is something different. The ad I saw (in store) had pictures of the Xbox, PS3, and Wii, and said "$200 off" or something like that.

Sounds like a sweet deal - but I already have a membership.
I was wondering how I can qualify for this F&F discount on the high-speed internet - if not, then is there any other way to get a monthly discount on this overpriced ISP service?

definitely! It is just the same as future shop giving away 200 bucks GC, except in a different way this time
Once finishing the contract in December, I am leaving Rogers for good. I am so sick of BT throttling

Doubt it will work. as the Op stated, 'new ineternet signup only' which probably has a clause in there that says new sign up have to at least not have had rogers service for 30, 60 or whatever days they set.

I can't read it very well, but from what I can make out, I see nothing about a contract and it says you can take $100 of the purchase of a PS2 or Nintendo DS instead.

Doubtful. I tried to threaten them before by saying "If you don't give me the friends and family discount, i'll cancel" Of course it didn't work. F&F discount was only for new signups as well, and I am less inclined to think that they will give you 200 dollars off a product that isn't theirs if you are an existing customer already.
It's worth a try though. If you get it, let everyone know :D

The PS3 would be $459, not $349, as all the 60GB models with the Emotion Engine for PS2 games are completely gone. (http://www.destructoid.com/sony-confirms-that-their-60gb-stock-is-fully-depleted-41413.phtml)

I called rogers to try to cancel my home phone and internet and Cable TV. They ended up offering me 6 months home phone for free (which was costing me $45 a month) and 20% off internet for a year. So thats a savings of over $200. They probobly would have offered me a discount on cable too but I told them I wanted to cancel it regardless because the image quality is horrible on the non-HD channels in London, the HD channels look really sweet though and I only have an EDTV so in theory the HD channels shouldn't really look better than the regular channels on it because the regular ones are 480i I beleive. Hopefully satellite will be better.

It's not a better deal. If you signed up for Rogers Express at $45 a month that works out to $216 in savings over a year. If you signed up for TV as well, it'll be more. Though if there's no contract with this offer (which I doubt... it'll probably be a year in length; remember Bell's free 360? Required at least a year contract), then this is a smoking deal.
And don't try adjusting your F&F deal (from the site:)
Offers cannot be combined with any other Rogers offer.

Umm..somehow I don't think this offer is available 'over the phone' since it's on the roger's video website. I would assume that you need to go into a roger's video store for this promo so you can get the 360, ps3 or whatever there to get the 'instant rebate'.

DFS, that's just untrue. There will be lots of 60GB PS3's in retail till Christmas probably. They just aren't making them anymore, but they're in retail channels.

IMO if you cancel your existing Rogers Hi-Speed or get it transferred to somebody else's name then you CAN get this discount or any other discounts. Thats what I did that where I was living currently with my room mates, I called Rogers and transferred the existing Hi-Speed account to one of my roomys. Then after a couple of days I called back again and said that I want a new activation on F&F discount and it was all done.
PLUS ..... My buddy works at Rogers and he confirmed that even if you have one account with Hi-Speed, you can always open another account on same name and get the discount.

- It is valid for first 12 months.
- You have to call their special number 1-877-862-4827. Then provide them with the Rogers Employee name and ID of whoever your know.

Wow, it's a hot deal because Portable Internet is included.
You can buy the modem, the starter kit, get the 200 bucks off, return the modem. So you only get 180 off in the end, but you don't even have to use their service or have someone install something at your house.
Man, I'd do this if Rogers Video in Guelph sold portable internet.

You can still get this deal in Alberta if you go with the portable internet.
BUT: $50/mth (no contract) and $100 for the modem purchase so you are really getting $50 off. Sucks for Albertans.

$99 a month for all three is NOT F&F discount, its regular discount for everybody. You just have to call them up on regular Rogers # and get it. Its even listed on thier website.
As for the digital cable ... I dunno abt that. Most prolly you'd have to wait for the technician to come and do the installation.

ok I just dug up more info on this deal.
not all locations carry consoles so ur pretty much out of luck on that one.
$200 off requires 1 year contract to rogers @ REGULAR PRICE for the internet service.
some stores which do not carry consoles may offer you promo rates such as express - $38.99 / extreme - $43.99. (YMMV) and they wont guarantee you a Wii or whatever console you want its still first come first serve when they hit the stores.. so this deal is ice cold..

what if you do the $200 off a wii but they have no wii's? Do they give you one from under the counter or a GC to use at futureshop whenever you want?
Can you do this on one service or do you have to get cable tv/internet etc.?
It'd be good if you did friends and family for cable tv and the $200 off a wii for just the internet. After a year cancel and do a new deal.

Nope they wont hold one for you or special order one for you either! Its just what is available in store .. so you would STILL have to wait for a Wii to come in and be at the front of the line to get it.

I don't know anyone that works at Rogers so, I signed up for the $200 shopping card. Apparently you can use this card at Rogers Video, so technically I guess you can use it to buy a Wii/360/PS3 anytime you want or rent movies. You can also buy Blue tickets. I think this is much better deal... I have wii60, do I really want a PS3? (although they do have 60gig one). Anyways I can decide later now... the only thing is that it may take 6-12 wks for delivery which sorta sucks.
The site is not working so you have to sign up through their e-care number.

Just picked up Portable Internet and got a PSP daxter pack for $200 off, so $29 bux and tax for a psp, game, famguy collection, 1gb card :)
He mentioned 12 month contract, but that was it, I didn't have to sign anything confirming this. Also, I had canceled my High speed Extreme at home to get this instead, and was still able to get it.

I called about the $200 off a Wii/360 thing, she said it was for students only. Can anyone confirm?
Is this $200 of a Wii thing for internet only or do I need a tv package with it?
I'm about to sign up as a new subscriber (I have no services) to Rogers for Digital cable/internet. Does anyone know the best deal?
There's the $200 gift certificate thing, the friends and family and the $99 for the 3 services deal.
Does anyone know the contract term for any of these?
Thanks.
I went to a Rogers Video store in Mississauga over the weekend and I was informed that the $200 promotion is for anyone who signs up for 12 month internet contract (express or extreme only.) You get the first month free BUT they charge a $20 fee so it's kinda like getting first month for half.
As for the console, you have to buy on the spot. I wanted a wii but they didn't have one so the sales rep suggested I pay for the whole thing to get on a list on the spot. They will then call me when it comes in (no eta) and then I would apply the rebate afterwards.
Cheers.

I checked the TSC website, and it looks like TSC GC's (http://www.theshoppingchannel.com/product/gifts/gift+cards/silver+box+gift+card+%24250+112250.do?&N=100382&Ns=P_DATE_CREATED) can be used at Rogers video stores. (click Terms of Use or FAQ)
"Use of the Rogers Gift Card constitutes acceptance of terms and conditions of use. Protect this card like cash. This gift card can be used for purchases at The Shopping Channel™, Rogers Video™stores, Rogers Plus™ stores, and TORONTO BLUE JAYS® regular season home game tickets (Rogers Centre at Gate 9) and merchandise,(at Jays Shop Rogers Centre Gate 5), in accordance with these terms and conditions"
"Is there a difference between The Shopping Channel Gift cards and the Rogers Gift Cards or Rogers Video Cards or Blue Jays Cards?

I ordered my internet on Sept. 19th, and I still haven't gotten my gift card! I have been on the phone w/ Rogers so many times I'm actually thinking it's a good idea to go back to dial-up... well, let's not be that hasty, but they've ripped me off nontheless!
BOOO @ Rogers!!!
Oh, and for anyone else having this issue, call this # to get directly to the eCare deptartment that is responsible for this promotion.

type in 3, then zero during the prompts (english, don't know the options for francais).

I signed up like august 28th or somethign for internet in my new apartment, asked if there was any deals, they said no, so I said fine.
Out of the blue I remembered this thread in like november, called rogers, bitched for 30 minutes, and now have the 200 as a promo code on my account... can just go to any rogers video store that has consoles and pick it up for 200 off. (Rogers center does, orillia (other hometown) does (and had wiis in stock when I called)
I suggest if you signed up recently that you call and get this... they never mentioned anythign about a 1 year contract, but regardless I'll be here for a year and require internet so I'm happy to sign for a 199 ps3. (Next year i'll go with bell and get the xbox haha)
Point, call in, *****, *****, *****, as above said ecare department knows the deals....
(once I cash in my rebate i get to start bitching about how shady my rogers is... get me some discounts there hopefully)

I'd stick with the F&F deal, it's pretty decent. It's not that hard to find a Rogers employee ;)

And what number did you call?

Called in and talked to csr... they then transferred me to ecare, who spoke to supervisor, who credited my account.
BTW this is also in the rogers flyer this week (available on rogersplus.ca)
you should have 0 problem doing this for new activation, I guess for previous ymmv

TSC giftcard can be used at Rogers Video towards a ps3/360 etc. I believe you can also go to RV and sign up for internet and get a $200 in store credit that has to be used the during the same visit?

Hello all,
I signed up for Rogers Extreme High-Speed back on Oct 18th, hoping to take advantage of the $200 Shopping Channel gift card. It's now Dec 15th and I haven't received anything yet. I called Rogers the other day and basically received the run around for about an hour: I was talking to one representative who put me on hold to check on it, and while on hold I got booted back to the main menu. Next I was talking to another representative who said they were going to transfer me to the eCare department responsible for the promotion, and I got forwarded back to the general internet inquiries line.
The representative I spoke to next realized I was getting fed up, and took my information and said she'd escalate my question herself, and call me back when she hears anything (which she said should be within 24 hours). It's now been about 2 days and I haven't heard anything.
The reason I'm quite angry over this is that I was contemplating leaving my then-current ISP (Aliant), and the prospect of the $200 gift card was enough to sway me to the Rogers side of the fence.
Does anyone have any tips that could help me get this issue resolved?
EDIT: I finally got a hold of someone at Rogers that took care of my problem. Apparently when their representative received my internet order, he/she neglected to fill in the promotion code. They gave me the option of either: A) Waiting for the gift card to be sent (4-5 weeks); or, B) Applying a $200 dollar credit on my account (towards my bill). I went with option B just to be done with it. While it took awhile to be resolved, it finally is.
