I had a very minor operation, stupidly minor. Less serious and less involved than getting wisdom teeth removed.

Here's the thing, the surgeon recommended 4 weeks of not lifting any more than 5lbs. That effectively puts me out of a job for those 4 weeks, and the doctors involved won't change their position on that, regardless of how detrimental it is to my finances.

Now, I'm not in the "danger zone." I'm not going to lose my car or have to sell a kidney just to keep my legs... but I am going to need SOMETHING to do, and I wouldn't mind making a couple of bucks while I am at it.

Can anyone think of a flea-market project or a part-time gig that I could do without disobeying the doctor's 5lb thing?

I'm crafty, in many senses of the word. I'm good with computers. And most importantly I've got a few weeks to kill.

I'm sure nobody's going to hand over a million dollar idea here, but I'm just hoping for a suggestion that might save me from cabin fever.

You can submit your resume to temp agencies which would call you up for temporary jobs here and there (varying from several days to a few months or longer). Some of them like Adecco mainly has office jobs (very easy, no heavy lifting required), while others might require more physical work. In your case I would go for the ones with mostly office jobs.

Do a little telemarketing? Those guys are always hiring.

Thanks, and I'd recommend the same to anyone else, but I work for one already.

Thanks anyway.

Try Longos. A few years ago they were hiring people to demonstrate food products inside/outside their store. Like you get minimum wage/hr for tossing together salad dressing with veggies and serving small portions to shoppers. If you don't take it too seriously it can be quite fun chatting to the people going past!
