Well, I asked them a question about what happens if you get a scholarship and they told me: ""When you pay your fees, deduct the amount of your scholarship from the total. In mid-September the scholarship will be paid directly to your
fees account.""
I guess that means you can probably defer whatever OSAP is giving you until you get the funds? Not 100% sure though, I would email/call

usually you can defer if you are waiting on OSAP.......but since everyone's circumstance is a bit different, best to talk to someone in the financial aid office

I don't know about UofT but UW as a "promissory note" (an I.O.U) you can sign and mail to them telling them you intend to pay your fees with OSAP.

just did this today.
You can officially 'defer' your tuition fees by presenting proof of your entitlement to OSAP, taking it to your registrar, and asking for a tuition deferral.
If you applied for OSAP in May, your registrar SHOULD have your information on file so you would only need to show up, present your student ID, sign something promising you'll pay by a certain date (i think it's Nov) or pay interest if you don't.
If you applied for OSAP after May, you can do one of two things:
1) print out your notice of assessment from the OSAP website. Not the estimate but the actual notice of assessment. Take this to your registrar w/ your student ID
2) go to the admission and awards office on bloor (i'm assuming you're talking about UTSG/downtown), ask them to sign you a confirmation of OSAP entitlement, and bring that to your registrar. The office doesn't like people doing this so I'd stick w/ #1.
You will get a receipt. Once you do, you're officially enrolled in your courses and they won't kick you out even if you don't pay by like April next year :) Of course they charge interest if you don't pay the full amount by november or so.
Hope that helped~
edit: when in doubt, just call your registrar. My registrar always picks up. They even respond to emails (albeit a bit slow when they're busy)! Maybe other campuses are different, I don't know.

I did just this about a couple of weeks ago. I was handing in some OSAP forms to Admissions and Awards, and I asked for the tuition deferral form. The lady there filled out most of it, signed her name, then I filled out the rest, signed my name, and took it to my faculty's registrar's office. Easy as pie.

^today, three people, including me, got a lecture by the chinese lady there about how she hates people coming there to get osap proof for deferrals because they waste trees and everyone's time lol.
Either way she gave it to me after ranting a bit.
