I have to take lower liberals this year at Ryerson, and i hate ALL of them. I took Astronomy last year and it was the easiest thing ever. But other than that, nothing else on that list looks appealing at all :(

Take an econ class with barbiero. I forgot the course code. I think it was called the economics of human behavior. That was one of the easiest lower liberals I ever took. I also think the econ department follows a policy of bellcurving marks. I remember in every single one of my econ class we got extra marks to raise the class average.

isn't that food and identity? I took that course last year. That course is not easy. The prof does not put up slides for students to copy. The assignments are marked unfairly by the TA's. The only good thing is you don't have to buy a textbook. There is a huge essay! You need to find demographics, maps and statistics for the essay.

I hate liberals with a passion. I've only had lower ones so far, but I honestly would rather take something more specific to my program. I know the idea is to have a well balanced student, but I find these courses to be the msot challenging ones throughout my semester, simply because I hate the material.

My advice is to take HR courses. Some are tougher than others but they prepare you for interviews.
Having good presentation skills will be beneficial to your career.

I don't think you can take HR courses as liberals as they are not included in that table. I think your talking about professional related.

I took HST 501 American Civil War and it was pretty easy. Yes, a lot of reading but you should already know most of it. For instance, one of the required readings was Red Badge of Courage, which I read in junior school. There was also a lot of emphasis on Lincoln and why he pushed for the emancipation proclamation.
I also took PHL 605 Existentialism and it also was pretty easy but lots of reading. The essays were based on how you realize your own existence so there wasn't anything right or wrong, only way you can fail this course if you don't write anything at all.
The course that I heard was a real bird course was PHL 606 Philosophy of Love and Sex. That one filled up less than 15 mins of registration opening.

okay guys its that time of year..share which upper level liberal is the easiest
^^^ the HIS602 class i took last semester was pretty easy..almost fun. I got a B+ without trying too much. 1 essay, 3 semenars (basically free marks), 1 two page seminar paper, and an exam.
the exam was worth 40%, it was two essay questions, and one question he gave away in the last class. So 20% of your final is pretty much a given. The other question is a general question that you would get if you went to most of the lectures.
Id recommend it. Now im looking for another good elective. I heard SOC 505 is good

I know the deadline's past to take courses but for what it's worth, I took HST 701 (History of Science and Technology) last semester with Vera Pavri-Garcia. Easiest course I ever took and I found it way easier than my Lower Level electives. No textbook but a course reader which you barely use (if anyone wants it, I'll sell for good price), notes posted online and her class is pretty much explaining the notes with some side info. Pretty much tells you exactly whats on the test too. Just pay attention and an easy A or B.

I took this course with Jenny Carson in Winter 2009 (so just the last term).
I thought it would be hard as well, but its not that bad. Yes you do have to take notes in class, and the profs normally mention so much material that its tough to kee up writing, but a laptop really helped me there.
The midterm and final weren't that bad. You won't have to remember ridiculously meticulous details, its just more general questions. So as long as you take notes while attending every lecture, and review a bit before midterm and final, its not so bad. And this is coming from someone who hates history.
EDIT: btw, my prof had powerpoint slides, but she gave much more info as she talked so we all still took notes. If you want the powerpoints, PM me your email and i'll send them to you. Might come in handy.

I took 301 with Veron. Avoid him as you will not learn anything in his class; moreover, it's very difficult to get over 80 in his class no matter how much you deserve it.

Hmm..the only one Ive taken so far has been POL 540: Third World Politics with Porf. Grace Galabuzi, really simple course with very very easy midterm/final. Only thing bad is the 4 critical analysis that has to be done, but anyone wanting an easy 3.0+ should take it.

I took HST 501 - American Civil War and I liked it. No one in the class is able to keep up with the course readings, but you really don't need to know too much detail about battles and so on. As long as you know who was involved and so on you should get 3.0. Most people I know who did the midterm and final just Wikipedia the battles and used their class notes to fill in the details. Most of them did really well. The book pages are novel book size and around 500 pages (30-50 a chapter).

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice! I ended up signing up for SOC 808 and HST 701 this semester, as I need to complete all of my upper-level liberal studies in order to graduate in 2010.
I find liberals an absolute waste of time, never learn a thing and only take them because I'm forced to. I'd much rather take a math or computer course, but unfortunately they don't count :(
