Is there any way of playing rmvb files on PS3? I tried real player in YDL 5.0.1 but got the error:
Component Missing, the player does not have the capabilities to play back this content. The following components are required: racp

not sure how you got real player on a ps3, but if you can get any program on there, you might be able to use mpcstar for rmvb files

You need the codec. Install Real Alternative and it should work.

RealMedia is a proprietary codec. There is no free implementations of RM codecs exists. Real Alternative does not decode the data by itself, but uses DLLs (Windows) from the RealPlayer. Obviously it won't work in Linux.
I got it working, sort of. What you need is mplayer and the binary codec package.

It works fine, but the playback is rather sluggish. The CPU usage for a 512x384 video was around 60%, and 90+% running full screen!! The lack of direct RSX access might be the culprit. I have to use software scaling, no choice here. The mplayer scaler is not yet SPE optimized. I'm now trying to setup gentoo and recompile mplayer with fbdev support.
