The Dell system I ordered has 2 internal USB's.

Anyone got ideas on what they could be used for?

usb to ide converter

Could you explain what this would be used for? Hooking up an ide hard drive?

Anyone So could I put my 250 gb IDE drive in a bay and hook it up somehow to one of the internal USB ports using a converter/adapter of some sort. What about speed, much slower than a direct connection as in if I hooked it up to a pci ide controller. I understand the Dell MB only has ATA connectors

yes you can do that but its better suited to dvd/cd rom drives because its slower than ata-100/133 hard drives.

in your situation an ide to sata adapter is probably easier to find, cheaper and faster.

You can get some devices that go into the front bays on your computer that have a USB port. You generally have to connect that panel to the internal USB port.
