Hi,

I am really confused as to what motherboard to go with. I bought the E6300 knowing I would overclock this thing to like 3ghz, took me a long time but finally got DDR2 memory and a 8800GTS PCI-E card so that I can get a new board for this thing so I can overclock. At the moment as you can see, I use the Asrock which SUCKS at overclocking, I can't even overclock it 1 bit.

So, I got the following:

Asrock 775DUAL VSTA
E6300 Core2Duo with stock heatsink
OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=18495&vpn=OCZ2G8002GK&manufacture=OCZ%20Technology)
550W Mushkin PSU

So, with a new motherboard I should be able to overclock this quite a bit right? but what motherboard do I get?!?! and I honestly do not want to spend over $300 on a freaking motherboard. I would like to know ASAP so I can order and pick it up today from NCIX

Please let me know!!

I hope you intend to have a better CPU cooler than the stock one.

If you're on a tight budget, the XFX 650i will work fine. It should handle 435-450FSB pretty easily for 3Ghz. Or the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L.

Is there any other board I could get? something better by any chance? I want to spend within $300. So if I gotta get a heatsink too, which one should I get? tuniq?

Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme for heatsink.

You could look into the Asus P5K series.

You don't need to spend $300 on a board, unless it has necessities you need that would cost more to add on afterwards than buying the board with those features now.

Don't know why it is showing as N/A anymore, perhaps they can't get stock on it.

This is also a great heatsink for the price, though not as good as the TR Ultra

Yea,

Thanks a lot man.

I bought the P5K Mobo and that Scythe Rev.B heatsink. Hopefully I can do some major overclocking :D.
