I am having a problem with the Acer Aspire E380 (ASE380-ED421A) that I have. I was having some software problem and decided to reinstall Windows Vista. However, I used the wrong disc (Microsoft Anytime Upgrade) instead of the Acer Recovery disc which I was suppose to made when I first started to use the computer. Since it's an upgrade for Vista and the OEM key that came with the computer doesn't work and I need to activate Vista with a new key (i.e. money).
Fortunately (or unfortunately), Acer has a recovery partition (EISA hidden partition PQservice) which contains all the files necessary to revive to the factory state. However, since I've re-installed Vista I've overwritten the Acer MBR and cannot access to the boot-up (ALT-F10) recovery console during POST. Now I am stuck with all the files necessary for recovery inside the harddrive that's in a partition that I cannot access. I need to copy 2 files from the hidden partition (mbrwrwin.exe; rtmbr.bin) in order to revive the ability to start the recovery console using ALT-F10.
My questions are:
1.) How do I access that hidden partition under Vista?
2.) Anyone got a copy of those two files that could send me?
3.) Anyone have made the Recovery DVD using eRecovery when you first started it and can burn a copy for me?
Thanks a lot.
