I have an fe550g with me. Specs are:

core duo 1.66 ghz
100 gb hd
1 gig ram
dvd/rw

The laptop does not boot at all. Sony wants $680 to replace the motherboard.

Should I take apart the laptop and sell it, or sell it as a whole laptop that does not boot?

I want to try to get at least 300 bucks out of it.

You will get the most money by parting it out. And by the way, while you hope to get AT LEAST $300 for it, that's actually THE MOST you might get.

See if you can find a replacement motherboard on eBay.

Thanks for you replies! I tried to find another mobo, but they cost about $350, and I still have to go through the pain of reattaching all the cables, just so the laptop might work.

Anywyas, I've disassembled and put everything in pags. Here's the link if anyone wants to but some parts!
