Hello, just wondering, what's the worst restaurant, you've been to. This includes, location, service, food, what ever.

The one place I've been do was Lord Nelson's in Burlington. It's supposed to be this high end place and stuff, and it was, except for the service. <_< Unless you were like 40+ or a regular, you didn't get much respect. :(

Well.. What about you all?
Take care, Cutie007! ^_^

Sunset Grill at Yonge and Eglinton. Went there, because it's closer than the one down by the beaches (which, by the way, is one of the best breakfast places in Toronto). Opened summer of 2003.

My girlfriend ordered an omelette with cheese and some other stuff. The cook forgets to put the cheese in when he makes the omelette. So, he opens up the cooked omelette and sprinkles on some cheese. The waitress is just sat there watching. He closes up the omelette and she brings it out.

We watched this whole thing, and couldn't believe they did this. I ask the waitress what kind of omelette this is. She says it's not her fault. I tell her, if you brought it out, it is your fault. She calls the manager, and I raise a stink. I will never go back to that restaurant.

Ouch! The beaches one I used to go to regularly after vball in the mornings BUT I stopped a few years back cuz one summer it was really hot and the cook was literally sweating on all the food! It was disgusting and we (me and my vball friends) cancelled our order and I have never stepped back into that place since then. A scrambled egg and some rice does it for me in the morning now :) Oh and a glass of oj :)

Damn, that place is always hot in the summer time. I guess the more you eat out, the more likely you are to realize that these cooks are not the cleanest people. Sometimes it's better not to see what the cooks are doing in the kitchen. I gotta learn to cook!!

I usually go to Tulip after vball. Or chinatown or korean bbq buffet. All that beef tastes so good after a full day of vball. :D

Well worst service I can think of would be the McDonalds next to Cedar Point. Worst grumpiest emplyee's I've ever seen.

Grosest food has to be Country Boy in Kitchener. They were busted for recycling food(taking the food people didn't eat and sending it back out for someone else).

I've only eatent there once, and it just happened to be a little bit before they were caught. And I remember the food being gross and stale.

Wendy's burgers I don't mind.

What's really bad there is the fries. I find you got like 5 minutes to eat them before they go dry and tasteless. And even if you eat them when they're fresh they're not that good.

If I get Wendys takeout I just throw the fries out when I get home, they don't last that long.

Schwartz's smoked meat in Montreal on St. Laurent. Lined up for over an hour for take out and was given the worst attitude. The fat guy behind the counter had the nerve to even say out loud to the other employee's "Take your time, if they leave, they'll come back." Once I heard that, I threw my food at him and told him off declaring that my friends and I will never be back with that bvllsh!t attitude.

It's usually the attitude of the staff that can make the whole experience horrid. As for items in the food, can't say that I've had anything gross, but we'll deal with that when it happens

Johnny's Burger at Vic Park and 401 in GTA. I've never been more disgusted than anything before. I wish I was one of those health inspectors and I would bust them on the spot. Here's one of my many stories:

The cook sometimes doubles as the food prep (meaning he puts the toppings on your food and wraps it up). Well, I see the cook all the time touching the raw beef patties which are left out on the counter and then proceed to touch the finished product with the same hands. That's absolutely gross and I bet all the times that I got food poisining was from that.

Also, one particular chef has a chunk of hair growing out of his ears which he regularly picks at and then touches people's food without washing his hands... I'm sick just thinking about it. I have not eaten their in the past 6 months and the only time I ever did was because I had a friend who use to work there and so I trusted him to make my food....if you don't believe me, go see for yourself. This is truly buyers beware!!

Oh yeah..and as an ex-mcdonald's supervisor, I take real offense to all this mcdonald's bashing :P

Its not like I've seen people drop food and put it back on (specifically beef patties) or that for some reason, a particular white ooze comes out of the chicken and fish products once they come out of the fryer...or the fact that they take a box of lard the size of a 12" subwoofer (encased) and use that as the oil base for all their fried products. No no no..none of this goes on. Mcdonald's is the best! :)

Anything that would get on an uncooked patty would be burned off on the grill.

I don't see what the big deal is about that - do you REALIZE what happens to your food in the supermarkets before you buy it?

When I worked at Superstore one kid would spit in a meat tray EVERY time he walked by. EVERY TIME.

Mc Donalds does have good quality control.I know a few bank managers etc that went to woork for a day for charity and they too were suprised, especially when they can afford throw away everything at the end of the day.Insurance covers them whereas a small business has to stand his losses.
I still don't eat Mc Donalds btw it's not good for a males verility.

Urban legend? Witnessed it with my own eyes while I worked at Superstore.

How about another? Like the milk being left out for about 6-7 hours (From 4 in the morning until 10/11) on Sunday mornings because it's so busy. I've witnessed that too.

Far, far from an urban legend. I wouldn't have believed the things I saw until I worked there.

You know those returns at customer service? They go right back onto the shelf. And since the grocery/dairy guy was busy, it usually sat all day and returned to shelf at close.....

Just tell them you want a new steak if you think it's overcooked. I once ordered a medium rare and when they gave it to me. I could smell the burn on the steak. Gave it back to them right away and they gave me a nice one in 10 minutes. That is what I call goot customer service. I like biftehque. Gives you the feeling of a high class restaurant at affordable prices (coming from a student's perspective). I've been to Ruth Chris, Hy's, etc... I admit there good but it's like triple the price.. not worth it to me!

Nice link, thx!

Tim Horton's, in Walnut Grove I believe. Ordered chicken noodle soup because that's the ONLY soup they had, and a sandwich. The one soup selection shoulda tipped us off . Firstly it was SO incredibly watered down, basically yellow hot water. There were NO noodles to be seen either! We ate inside the store, and they gave us styrofoam takeout bowls. (hmm... another clue!) We complained, they gave us the same soup with "more" noodles. They said they had the same problem yesterday <_< It was so weird too, there were basically 3 girls crowded around their soup bin "trying" to find the noodles by stirring with their spoon for like 5 min. Not one of them was even trying to help anyone else trying to order during this time! Then we tried to find salt thinking it might make it a little bit more edible, but alas, none to be found... When I picked up the sandwich, I found there was a bug underneath. Did I mention my mom already ate half of that sandwich? She complained right away asking for the manager. Of course none to be found, all were basically untrained highschool students working there. We gave up and just left mad. I'm thinking they hired only kids just so they can pay below minimum wage

Agreed. Downtown location tries to pass off as a classy/upscale steak joint. It doesn't really matter if the place looks nice, the steaks sucked.

Unless there have been some changes since the summer, I won't be spending my money there anytime soon.

I remember going to rickshaw in surrey with my parents when I was really really young. I thought it was good back then, parents wouldn't have gone if it wasn't good... Haven't been there in probably 10+ years. I'm sooooo glad now :o I'm guessing the owners have long since changed many times now.

I still remeber the experience I had with the Sun Sui Wah in Vancouver a few years ago. It was on Mother's Day. They were very busy and the waiters said that they had to serve 3 groups per table in that evening. So every customer had to finish a 10 courses dinner within one and half hours. The dishes came in every four or five minutes and you had to finish them quick. We couldn't finished within one and half hours. They then packed all the unfinished dishes into boxes without asking and gave us the bill and the left over so we could enjoy them at home. I complaint to the manager and he said there were many customers waiting for the table.

Price - 5 stars
Service - 1 star

Hmm, just remembered another one. The Burger King in Bells Corners (Neapan/Ottawa), about eight years ago. They were out of several products, their roof was leaking (a few tables were blocked off due to that), and their food tasted disgusting.

As I recell, they were shut down shortly after that for renovations.

Anything that would get on an uncooked patty would be burned off on the grill.

I don't see what the big deal is about that - do you REALIZE what happens to your food in the supermarkets before you buy it?

When I worked at Superstore one kid would spit in a meat tray EVERY time he walked by. EVERY TIME.
yet another urban legend. i can't believe ppl love spreading lies.

It's amazing how ignorant some people are. Just keep trying to fool yourself into believing it doesn't happen so it doesn't crush your little perfect world. [/b][/quote]
There must have been some very disgruntled employees. I've worked at a couple of different grocery stores and have never witnessed any of this. Dairy returns go back to the supplier, no cost to the store. I find all this, what you are saying, hard to believe.

Like Trini, I hate Marche. If I'm going out for dinner, I don't want to pay to chase it around and do the paperwork too. Drives me bananas and just plain makes me grumpy.

Red Lobster. Fast, very marginal food at high prices. Everything is sopping in butter and just nasty.

Lucy's in Barrie. Again, I love seafood, but this place is just too loud, and it's high priced fast food.

McDonalds. Makes me feel gross and I know far too much about nutrition. If I don't feel physically gross after, I feel psychologically beat up. Just say no. I resent their marketing strategies.

Both of the places in Calgary that were the worst for food is Foody Goody (a Chinese buffet place- they are still around but not sure if they changed owners/management) and this Vietnamese restaurant that I can't remember the name of. The reason they were bad was that they offered horse meat as a replacement for beef without telling the customers that. :o

Now I'm leery to eat at buffet places (ie. Foody Goody) or deals that are too good to be true (the Vietnamese restaurant that offered the 7 beef courses for a really good price).

I think if most people could actually see the kitchen at most of these places they eat at, they will never eat there again.

The only problem with this system is that they always switch inspectors, so what one person says is okay, the next person says is an offence, which is stupid.

The other thing is that all that this does is make restaurants plan around inspections.

I mean, people hang ducks, chicken and pigs out in the open in Chinatown. I don't know what the big deal is.

I found it interesting that a Starbucks appeared on that list though... :P

I'm glad someone revived this old post because I'm definitely going to think twice about eating out! There's an awful lot of disgusting hygiene issues in the restaurant industry.

I would have to add Golden Griddle to the list because my colleague got a sandwich there and discovered, just before her last bite, that the bread had mould.

Cafe Arc de Triomphe (HK Style cafe on Leslie & Finch) makes my list of worst restaurants because one of waiters was extremely rude when we asked about the breakfast special. I don't remember exactly what was said 'cuz it was 6 months ago.

I went to the Drake hotel rooftop patio on Queen St a few weeks ago. Its a pretty nice place. Ordered the Calmari. 3 grilled pieces in a tiny salad, no seasoning and it was rubbery for $12. I expected a huge plate for $12. Thats the most ripped off I been food wise.

My friend also got food there and it was horrible. Experience and just crap. Never eat there.

I agree with Zephyrus. Boston Pizza sucks also. Never eat there.

On the flip side, Burrito Boyz on Peter street in the entertainment district in Toronto is amazing. When I worked downtown, I went there once a week for lunch. $5.50 for a 10" Chicken or Beef Burrito PACKED with toppings. Very filling, tastes amazing.

Its amazing how ignorant YOU are. Perhaps things work differently over there but in most big corporate supermarkets that doesn't happen. I work at a local Loblaws (not a RCSS but the size of the store is just one down from it). Anyway ALL products that have gone bad go to their respective areas in backrooms as "damages" and are sent back to the manufacturers and the store gets a credit for it. Except departments such as the bakery (they through all there stuff out at the end of the day anyway), produce (grinded up composted), deli (thrown out). For example in the back of the dairy theres a whole section devoted to dairy "damages" and the manufacturers eat the losses.

I'll also have to say Red Lobster (those guys don't know how to cook lobster) and also the Taiwanese shop in First Markham Place food court. That one time we bought from them the beef in the noodles was hard and the soya milk was partly frozen! My mom brought it back and the guy yelled at her. Not only that, the same day I realized they had ripped me off, gave me the wrong change (likely purposely) but after the reaction my mom got I didn't bother to go back for it.

So don't buy from these scamming Taiwanese at First Markham Place! Same with the Taiwanese at ICCT! These Taiwanese sure aren't making a good name for themselves I can tell you that much.

I actually find the Keg's steak a bit dry and flavorless. And yah the waiting time on a Friday/Saturday are brutal.

I must say the steak I make at home on the BBQ + some montreal steak seasoning taste 10x better! :)

Whats wrong with the Keg? I've never had bad steak there. ALthough, their pathetic non-use of reservations on wekends sucks the hind tit.
Oh, they take reservations Mon-Thurs, wheen the place is half empty.

Well it just got worse!
Last night there was a private function that me and a couple of fellow chefs finished after 10:00pm we've been at it since 10 am so they were hungry and were from all out of town and had to catch to go train etc and since i live up the street i said i'll wait will you ladies yeah they were all ladies.
I suggested Marche at BCE place i've never been a fan and its een about 5+ years since i'v been there.
So i said i'll just have coffee.
We go in and i said i'm not having anything except coffe and someone else was paying for it so it will go on their card.
So they did not bother to give me the card.
Upon leaving an asian young lady who seemed very depressed and tired, i mean you could not pay her to smile asks where is my receipt after my co workers paid so we explained.
She then said she had to call the manager do i said do what you must but i then realized that the manager had been spying on us all the while a middle eastern fellow, i was the only one in my chef whites.
So he was very rude etc and apparently could not come to terms if the people at the entrance were not doing there job, they need to inform me of their policy when entering that wheather or not i'm eating i need to have a card.
Then he started to raise his voice at my lady friend who paid for my coffee when she tried to explain. This has to be the worst possible piece of service at any establishment, makes a staples pricematch look like a dream.
We eventually left and he had the nerve to tell us that they dont need our business.

Marche will not be getting any business from the four of us again and the other 296 chefs in my organization will also be hearing of this incident and i am dead sure they are all going to do the same especially to a place that has mediocre food at high prices and the worst possible customer service.

Walking into marche at BCE without a card is asking for trouble. I predicted what was going to happen after I read the first paragraph! The employee at the front is supposed to give you one whether you need/want one or not because each card requires an automatic gratuity I think. Besides the overpriced food, I think the card stamping system is one of the dumbest things I've never used.

The KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN at Jane & Finch, in that plaza across the street from Jane & Finch Mall. These rude people work there and their service is the worst of any fast food place I ever been to. One time I went inside and these 3 black females were talking to each other. They saw me enter and continued talking and joking. I stood there for a full 2 minutes and then said "Is somebody working here?". One of them said "Yes, why you ask?". At that moment my anger started to kick in. I said "Well I'm standing here and nobody attends me". She walks up to me and asks me what I want. I asked for a mixed vegetable salad she said "We don't sell em' anymore". I asked for a macaroni salad and it's literally frozen stiff, I mean blocks of ice. I asked for some chicken and they gave me this gross raw chicken, waaay undercooked. These idiots don't bother to take their salads out of the freezer and leave them thaw a little, also you won't get service until you call them to the cashier desk, they are always talking and horseplaying in the back room. I have gotten bad service 4 times in this dump, the orders take LONG time to come out, I wonder how that franchise survives, I'm amazed people have not reported this KFC to head office for their incompetence.

The worst restaurant I have ever been to is Smitty's Red Deer. We were there for breakfast, and not only did the waitress mess up our order completely, she did it twice! Amazing how that could happen.

it was at some chinese dim sum place where the waitress was going to serve us some mango pudding from a big tray, and it wouldn't slide off the tray, so she was going to use the pen perched on her ear to slide it off.

ah gross, ewe. :!:

McDonald's is picking up the trend towards healthy eating with salads and stuff. Don't know if it's real or marketing so far, but as public opinion goes, so will go their menus.
Salads are a step in the right direction for McDs, however, I'm sure salad sales are a very small fraction of their income. I find they are more hype and marketing than anything else.

For example, on their website under corporate news releases, http://mcdonalds.ca/en/news/canadian.aspx?Page=5 one can find the following news relase:

Sept 4, 2002 - McDonald's Canada Announces Commitment to Reduce Trans Fatty Acids/Saturated Fats in Its Cooking Oil,

"September 3, 2002 (Toronto, ON) – McDonald's Canada today announced a commitment to reduce trans fatty acids (TFAs) and saturated fats with the introduction of enhanced vegetable cooking oil in its restaurants. The announcement was made in conjunction with a similar U.S. announcement also made today. The Canadian company has been working with the U.S. on a similar reduction program and has established an aggressive timeline, with a goal of full implementation in all Canadian restaurants in early 2003. This industry leading step is part of a global TFA reduction plan in all McDonald's restaurants around the world...
While McDs in the US (and around the world?) are eliminating trans and saturated fats, today, an order of large fries in Canada still has 12g of saturated and 2g of trans fats. The saturated means that they are fried in animal (beef?) fat.

I just checked McD's USA site, it's not much better. A serving of large fries has 5g of saturated and 6g of trans fats. I think this has changed over the last few years because fries in the USA used to have 0g of saturated fats. Can anyone confirm this?

Ah..i went to boston pizza a few times. Now i'm scared!

I think pizza places are pretty dirty. They use their hands and sometimes do cash too.

I'm really scared about complaining BEFORE i get my food, because i don't want to get any "special sauce" or other "special" ingredients. Especially at chinese places, if you ask them to re-cook the food, i'd be freekin scared. I don't think there's a point of asking restaurants to re-cook the foods, because you will asking for naughty stuff done to your food.

1 time... my friend ordered a drink from the food court at china town centre.
The people got the ice by chipping off the frost in the fridge. she looked inside and saw. :-0

Thats why you shouldn't eat at China Town centre. remember the health inspectors closing that place last year? I'm not saying that you should avoid chinatown, just be careful where you eat.

Thai Palace in Gastown, Vancouver.

More details here (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showpost.php?p=1697068&postcount=6) from this thread (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=165406).

The tom yum soup tasted like it came out of an instant mix package. It was also extremely salty and lacking in ingredients.

Also, they didn't bring us an item that we ordered but we were billed for it. When I tried to resolve that, the waiter thought I was lying. He had the nerve to tell me he was sure we had eaten it.

i went to salad king with a bunch of friends. ordered what i usually order, (Sea Queen 10+ chillies) anyhow, my order never came, even though I repeatedly ask the server where my food was *at this time i was still calm*. i told my friends to go on ahead and eat since i eat quickly anyhow and always finish before them. they ate slowly but you could only pro-long eating a meal for so long. i was shaking my head when they finished and said that its ok i'll just grab something from somewhere else *at this time i was more than annoyed*. at this point i decided to go out and smoke to calm my nerves and i came back to give my share of the bill because i ordered beer which i got and finished. to everyone's surprise, my meal was in the bill. i turned a couple of shades of red, i went to talk to the server and manager. i would have been well within reason to start screaming but i took the high road and talked to them with a hint of controlled anger in my voice. they told me that it was an oversight, and i told them that me not getting my food is a BIG-HUGE oversight, me being charged for the food that i did not get is wrong. I still go back there to eat, but i dont go to the same server, i ask for a different one.

La Terrace - Banquet Hall

I would have enjoyed McDonalds 5x more than what I have at La Terrace.

Service was pretty good though.
