Get ready for school with the NCIX.com Build Your Back to School PC Contest!

This contest is similar to previous wish list contests, but there are some new wrinkles. You have to pick a CPU, Motherboard, and RAM, but after that you can pick whatever you like. This time you can pick any item from the NCIX weekly sales, excluding the "Surprise Specials", PLUS you can mix and match from the sales NCIX is running between August 9, 2007 and September 12, 2007!

If your list is randomly drawn, you will win the items on your list! 10 other lists will be drawn and they will win a $100 NCIX gift card!

Here are some quick instructions:

Click on the 'new topic' button in the 'NCIX.com Build Your Back to School PC Contest!' forum
Click here to go to NCIX.com (http://www.ncix.com)
Find a CPU, motherboard, and RAM that you want and then post those items to your thread. If you aren't comfortable picking those parts, you can select one of NCIX's pre-built desktops or laptops.
Find any additional items that you want and then post those items to your thread.
Remember to including the item, price, and link to the item
Total it up and make sure it's under $1,500 and click on 'Submit New Thread'

This contest ends on September 12th, 2007.

NOTE: You cannot include gift cards on your list. Due to the total prize value of this contest, residents of Quebec are unfortunately excluded.
Click here for the full contest rules. (http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/main.php/students/rules/)

Ryan, since ncix offers open box pricing on some items.. can we use the open box prices?

I am sure NCIX wouldn't want it any other way as they need to sell those in the real world? ;)

The can't guarantee stock, so those aren't allowed unfortunately. With the 3 sales that they'll be running during this promo, you should have lots of regular sale items to choose from anyway. :)

6 x Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB 8.9MS Hard Drive 3 Year MFR Warranty - $88.04 x 6 ($528.24)

Is this ok or should they be specified individually, or only one per item?

I'm not entirely sure about that as it shows up as "surprise special" in your cart and there is a limited quantity of them. I'm pretty sure thats the reason you can't use this in this contest as it is "limited quantity". So beware if it's in your list and you can't take the $339 price with out going over! I know I had to change my list because of it. Maybe Ryan can clear things up. :D

edit: After just looking again I can't find the area on the website that showed a limited quantity for it, I'm sure there was one yesterday but I could be wrong.

Something bugs me. A lot of lists that i browse through have the Regular Price attatched to the item. eg. G25 wheel has about $77 difference Regular to Sale Price. A lot of people could be saving who knows how much (maybe even $400 in savings) and then add another item or 2 or 3 to their list! Even when i told my brother about his list (he could have saved himself $80 - $100) he got mad and refused to change his list!

Perhaps it isn't clear enough that we CAN use sale prices (excluding Suprise Specials of course) from any sale that comes up between Aug 9 - Sept 12.

I went and noted on each item how i got that price. in the future when the next sale comes along with a lower price on one of the items i can update that specific item with the new price and note again the sale i got the price from. I thought it would be a good idea.

Surprise specials are the online door crashers.

Regarding the non-doorcrasher sale prices - how do you verify those? The links from a few weeks ago are no longer valid, so there's no way to verify that it was a doorcrasher or if it was the 'normal' sale price

NCIX has records of their prices of course.

Do contest system builds include assembly and testing? I'm an intermediate user and would be more comfortable with professional assembly than doing it myself. A similar system to mine in the system builder (intel value desktop) says build and test $50, but then in step 3 it says $0.00 for assembly and testing and actually drops $50 compared to the previous step. I split the difference in my config and said $25 to build and test. Please advise.

If you win, I'm sure NCIX will throw in the building. :)

It dose not matter if you use the sales like because you have to use the regular price before sales and rebates. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I am sure that you need to use the regular price.

No, in this particular contest, you can use the sale prices from multiple sales.

Good question, and good to note for those who want a nice laptop.

Today the Acer laptop which quite a few people have put on their list is on sale for $1399.99

Acer 5920-6313 Core 2 Duo T5250 GeForce 8600M GT 2GB 160GB 15.4IN WXGA HD-DVD Vista Premium Notebook

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...r&promoid=1055

Which leaves $100 for some more treats.

I tossed this printer in the mix ($89).
Samsung ML-2010R Laser Printer 22PPM 8MB 1200X600DPI USB

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...acture=Samsung

Good luck to everyone, and don't hate me if I win for being a n00b. (I have been around since 2003, but prefer to browse rather than post a lot).

Yeah, I know about those stupid laws. But it's just frustrating to be excluded from every contests on the net! (sorry about that, I had to say it! Let's hope it will change someday...)
