Was just at Office Depot a few hours ago and picked up what I thought was a pretty good deal on a small portable hard drive.
They had the Acomdata 2.5" 60GB 5400RPM USB External Drive on clearance for $49 and change.
I thought it was a better deal than buying a housing and stuffing a drive into it.
I saw this at the downtown Edmonton location, there was one or two more left in stock after I grabbed one.
Dont know if it was one store or chain wide, but it appeared to be part of thier big clearance sale.
Here is a link to the brochure:

I thought this is a good deal, until last week FS has FreeAgent 120G @ $120, with 5 Year Warranty, and encryption software. So I actually want to return mine and buy the other.

Just came back from the Southside and Westend stores in Edmonton.
None there, and the sales people said that the 60 gig units were not on clearance.
If he got the deal at $49+ change, he was incredibly lucky.

I think he was talking about the Office depot in Oliver Square, that store seems to be pretty dead most of the time, I can see why they have pretty good clearance deal sometimes.

$10 to $15, here is one example. but nearly everyone thats selling 60 gigabyte 2.5 inch external hard drives on ebay sells them for under $60. its not 'special'.

I went to OD this morning and it appears Edmonton (the clerk didn't say which stores) had quite a few. Lethbridge had one as well.
Neither one I was will to drive to try to get since the cost of gas makes it not worth it.
Good luck for those of you in Edmonton getting one.

This one actually is an enclosure + hard drive. It may not as reliable as Acomdata.

I have it and I have had no issues (2 weeks of constant use and counting).
The one I got is actually an 80GB SATA drive.

Hi there,
How much music do you have? That is the question you should be asking yourself and buy which one you think will last you a while (i.e. 80GB for $59 or 100GB for $100).
Cheers.

it doesn't come with an AC adapter. it uses up 2 usb ports, 1 for power 1 for transfer.

Just to clarify, the 2nd UPS plug is optional only if u need it. Mine works fine with the one plug.

They are pertty nice if u need something small with decent transfer speeds.
However for just over double the cost it looks like u can get a 500gig 3.5.. I would have probably purchased the 500g if I hadn't purchased this one already..

I agree but I wanted a portable one so I am thinking should I get this or the Lacie drive on the FS website ( I don't need more than 60 gigs but I do want a drive that will last)
