Cool, they should change to the Holomag strip though. That looks much cooler.

However they are allowed to choose where they want the hologram: Regular Front (most common), Regular Back, and Holographic Magnetic Strip.

i dont really see the point of this. Isn't it even less secure considering that you don't have to sign anymore?

Plus I always pay at the pump so swiping the card isn't much harder than hovering the card over the terminal. (oops thought it was Petro Mastercard for a sec)

I'd like to request the new card. Where did you see that link? Can you provide a link? Just logged in and went snooping around for it, but did not find it.

thanks.

I don't think the signature adds any security. If someone finds my MC they can go anywhere, use it, and scribble an illegible signature when prompted. It would probably take hundreds of purchases before a clerk somewhere notices that their signature doesn't match my faded signature on the back of the card.

a lot of people don't like leaving their signature everywhere they go.. why do I trust some gas station attendant or waiter with my signature? What if he uses it to defraud my workplace? What if he sells off the title to my land?

Given that my impression is that the requirement for a signature offers nearly zero benefit (and potential risks), I'd like to see it done away with altogether.

Nah, besides more and more places that take paypass don't require a signature for a magnetic swipe either. The just swipe your card and give it back to you.

Just call PC Mastercard and request a card WITH PAYPASS (if you already have a PC Mastercard). If you are a new customer, simply apply for a new card.

I agree that signature isn't secure at all, but int he case that somebody did steal the card and bought things with it, I think it would be a stronger case to present to Mastercard if the thief did not even sign your name correctly.

They will never let you pay for something if the signatures don't match.

Sweet, I just phoned them up and ordered one. They said it would arrive in 7-10 business days.

I work for retail and almost no cashiers look at the creditcard. we just swipe it and give it back. I think paypass or any cc without needing a signature is a good idea.
