I need to send/deposit some money into my wife's american bank account. Wire tranfer seems pricey. Mailing a bank draft to a reletive to deposit seems riskey(lost in the mail).
Any other way?

You can try XEtrade.com if you're sending money in CAD for your wife to receive it in USD. From what I understand, there are no fees since they make their money off the currency conversion. You still get a very good rate though.
Otherwise you can always try paypal.
Hope that helps.

I always do an e-cheque by paypal. The fee for an e-cheque (I guess paypal calls it an e-check) is a flat $5. You will also pay for the currency conversion of 2.5% I believe.

I deposit US funds into my RBC US$ account and then make a direct transfer to my RBC Centura US bank account. There's no fees on this type of transaction.

But the OP needs to transfer funds into a specific American bank account (his wife's).

Sounds good, however, I already have the funds in US dollars here. It looks like that site requires funds to be converted.
Just gotta send this US cash to her account in the US.
Any other methods?

Do you have a Canadian USD account?
If so, you may be able to simply write a regular cheque and send it to your branch in the USA. I have done this before - I phoned the branch ahead of time and they said they did it often. They gave me the name of a person at the branch to send it to. If your bank is agreeable to this, you could also just send them a money order / bank draft by courier, in which case you won't even need a Canadian USD account.

Yes I realize this, I shared my method in case it gave him some ideas. Depending on the US bank he could open a US$ account with an associated CDN branch and do as I do.

-sending to US account in the US.
there isn't any other option than wire transfer, or sending a cheque/bank draft in the mail/courier.
