What has to be done before/on/after the closing day in respect of the following:

Utilities (Hydro, Water, Gas)
Cable
Land Line

Is this something my Lawyer/Real Estate Agent will take care off, or is it something I need to take care of myself.

As well, who do you have to notify about your change in address? Not talking about credit cards or banks, but more along the lines of the government/canada post

Any insight would be appreciated as this is my first house

you need to do it yourself. call each of the companies (gas, water, hydro, phone, cable, internet, etc about 30 adys before you move. they might need deposits and such as well, so be prepared for that. most of them will set up an appointment for the day of your move to hook stuff up, others can do it without even showing up to your house....but you do have to arrange it all yourself.

go to canada post and fill out a change of address card, and pay them $32.xx (give or take). they will forward all your mail automatically for 6 months. As you see mail come in with the old adress, call them up and change it to the new one. (credit cards, library, banking, school contact info, work contact info....)
it is tedious, that's for sure.

I know you have to apply for a new licence when you move, but is there any other agencies you have to inform of a move?
