lawyer fees when buying home?

What is the average legal fees you pay when purchaing a home.Does it vary from city to city and if lawyer is in small town etc etc as opposed to a big city?

cool thanks..so its not 3k for legal fees like i was told by some crazy person..
I knew it was less than 1k for a 100k mortgage home.

That rate in BC seems kind of low?

I paid about $650 for fees plus GST and disbursements for a purchase with a mortgage in Brampton, Ontario. That rate is pretty much on par with the market rate in Toronto. There're cheaper ones I am sure but I went with a reputable lawyer to ensure the work was done properly.

$650!??! I just paid close to a $1K on May 14th for a lawyer in North York!
