I dont know what their called but their the cheques that dont have any personal info on them and you have to write them in. I got 4 when i opened up TD and need them again for transferring money from TD to PCF

if they are charged for, is there any free alternate ways to transfer money from TD to PCF?

Those are just temporary cheques until you get your real cheques in the mail. There is no fee to use those cheques.

The easiest way to transfer money from TD to PCF would be to write a TD cheque to yourself and depost into PCF.

Sounds like a starter cheque or counter cheque. Chances are you will not be able to get anymore. They want to make some $$ off you when you buy them.

I know for a fact that you can transfer money from PCF to another banking institution using their online service which I have done so many times.

I am not sure if TD allows you to transfer to another bank online since I do not bank with them. Hopefully someone with TD can chime in.

RBC does not allow this.

How much money are we talking here?

You could always just punch out cash and deposit to PCF ATM. Or if you want to be on the safe side, give your parents the cash and have them write a cheque for the same amount and deposit that cheque into PCF.

I could add TD but...

* You must send in a void cheque to complete this request. The address will follow.
* Cheques must have your name preprinted on them.
* The name on your account must match your name on your President's Choice Financial accounts.
* Only personal accounts will be accepted. Business accounts cannot be added.
* Accounts which require multiple signatures to transfer cannot be added.
* Accounts must be from a Canadian financial institution and funded in Canadian dollars.

talking about 1000$ per month btw, and parents arent around to write cheques =\

Huh? Aren't you trying to transfer funds from TD to PCF?

You need to add PCF to TD and not vice-versa, provided TD allows you to do this.

However, even if TD DID allow bank-to-bank transfers chances are TD will require you to submit a PCF cheque to them. PCF cheques are free.

If you're looking to set up a regular transfer from TD to PCF you would need to give PCF a void peronalized cheque to set up the debit. If you give TD a PCF cheque they can only pull money out of the PCF account.

An alternative might be a direct deposit form, which would have the numbers that PCF needs and a branch stamp and signature from TD on it. You would have to check with PCF if their policy allows this, though there must be some other alternative because they can't require people to buy personalized cheques just to give them a voided one.

Counter cheques do not exist anymore, at any bank. The non-personalized ones are only offered at account opening, as they are all pre-printed with account numbers in the MICR, which is then plugged into the computer when your account is opened.

TD is a great bank but is useless in this particular case. They did not even give me 1 free cheque

You could have gotten one when you opened the account. How is the bank supposed to give you one free cheque? They can't print them in-branch.

TD does not give anything even at the time of opening. My friend who opened an account in bmo got 5 free cheques.

They do. It's optional at account opening. Either your account number is randomly generated or it's pulled off a pre-printed non-personalized cheque (come in sheets of 4). After that, the only way to get a cheque printed is through Davis & Henderson.
