Im wondering what type of discounts can be discussed at larger furniture shops like Mobilia from their ticketed price? eg Not tax or 10%?

I recently ordered a fair bit (>$5,000) from Mobilia in Burlington and had no problem getting taxes in, free shipping, and a couple of extra hundred off. Just a note, I found our salesman to be like a stereotypical Used Carsalesman, but it worked for me.

thanks.
I've seen some stuff i wanted there and total was around $4,000. However about 3-4 months of wait time is a bit too long for me but really like some pieces they had.

One of the salespeople mentioned a figure, about $2,000, where they will include the tax.
Agree about the wait, that's what we are doing now...

We were really close to buying a Natuzzi sofa from the Markham location, and the guy wouldn't budge on the price.

Urban Barn will not budge on prices. They said their markup is much lower than the other furniture shops. They never go on big sales.
Have you tried GH Johnson? They carry a lot of prices. I was looking at a couch that was $2000 at Pavillion, $1500 at a chinese store and GH Johnson quoted me $1100. You can look at all the catalgoues there.

I would forget all these places and check out Sterling House Interiors in Mississauga! They are at 2575 Dundas St. W and they will beat any competitors prices!! They have a really nice store and they don't have "used car salesman" working for them :)

Avoid this place at all costs. They don't deliver on time and if you try to cancel they will charge you 20% of the original price! You think the store manager would know how to treat a customer, huh? It was the worst experience ever! They are already late one month now and I don't know when I will receive my furniture :( I either have to wait for an unknown number of months or I have to pay 20% of the price!!

If a company is more than 30 days late delivering goods regardless of being custom ordered the customer has the right to cancel the order and have their deposit refunded. For more info google the Ministry of consumer and comercial affairs, lots of good info on consumer protection.

Ok,
So the manager won't be in until tomorrow. I'm heading there then.
Questions for anyone who would know:
1. My couch was a special order (I picked out the upholstery) Under order cancellation on the back of my invoice it says:
"All special orders are considered 'final sale'. If these orders are cancelled, the deposit is forfeited."
2. "supplier delays - Despite our best intentions, supplier delays may occur. In that case we will have no choice but to extend the customer's anticpated delivery date tot he new expected arival date, without recourse"
Can these condition stop me from getting my deposit back? I'm trying to remember law class, and I think waivers/clauses like this do not apply if they are contrary to legislation. Ontario Consumer Protection Act says:
"Deliveries must be made on time. If the company doesn’t make delivery or start service within 30 days of the date stated in the agreement, you can cancel the agreement at any time before delivery or start of service. You lose the right to cancel if, after the 30-day period has expired, you agree to accept delivery or allow the company to start services. If the agreement does not state a date, the
30 days run from the date the agreement was signed. Again, you lose that right if you accept delivery or start of service after the 30 days.
The only note on delivery on my invoice says: Anticipated delivery = April 13, 2008.
I think I got a pretty good chance of getting my monaaaaaaaaaaaaay...,,I am Persian, like the cat!

What does "start service" mean? I am sure they will say they have started the custom build and you are SOL, but am not sure that it's right.
I posted previously above about my discount. I won't get into detail, but I will say I was less than impressed (much less) with Mobilia later dealing with delayed deliveries, lack of communication and missed deliveries.

Ok.
So the manager said NO!. NO money back without a 25% restocking fee, essentially my deposit. Said that the clause on the back for special orders says clearly that any delays are without recourse.
I called CIBC Visa and explained, they entered a dispute and refunded me the money pending an investigation.

Two months overdue. OUch. Did they give you a new timeline of when its due? or the same story of we are not sure?
I didnt bother ordering from Mobilia as well since the sectional I wanted was special order and they did not have a set date but the 3-4 months wait. I could not wait that long.

See, my problem was that they initially told me 10-12 weeks and then it kept longer and longer. When I was there on Sat he offered me a 150 discount and a written guarantee to have my couch in 2 weeks (August 23) or my money back. I turned it down because I was so pissed, but maybe I should have taken it.
My point was if he would have said 3-4 months, I would have even gone close to ordering it. 10-12 weeks translated to June 23rd the latest. 3-4 months would have meant July 30th which would have been not acceptable and Aug 23 certainly is not.
This thing with Visa could backfire. They might return my 500 to Mobilia since my invoice states that Special Orders are subject to delays without recourse.
BUT....I checked my receipt and it doesn't state anywhere that my order is a special order. It just lists my couch and doesn't specifically say it is a special order.
I'm ready to take this to Small Claims Court and lose...just for the principle of it!
BOYCOTT MOBILIA!
This is going to take a long freaking time,.

Sorry to bump a old thread, I am considering buying a sofa from Mobilia. I did notice that the sales woman acted shady like a Used car salesmen.
I walked out but did like one unit. They wouldn't budge on all inclusive price/tax/delivery.
