Our TD line of credit (LOC) was closed months ago. Our TD chequing account remains open, is used regularly and has money in it.
Last week my wife wrote 2 cheques from the LOC account because there was an old cheque book in the drawer and she didn't notice that the account numbers were different. So I am now trying to get the 2 cheques back. But I may not be able to get one of them.
What would TD do if one of the cheques is cashed? Will they honour the cheque taking $ from the chequing account instead of from the LOC? Or will the cheque be returned? Service charges? Would it help if I notify TD? If I ask TD to honour the LOC cheques taking money from the chequing account, can they put a note on the account and do this? Would a "stop payment" on the bad cheques avoid having them dishonoured?
Thanks.
