Call me paranoid, but I want to every so often (a couple of months or so) check up on my Social insurance number to see if anyone has applied for a loan under my name. Is anyone familiar with such a site? I cant seem to find anything on the general Government site. if you could give me the direct government link, id 'ppreciate it.

I am not completely clear what you want exactly. But check this

What should I do if I suspect someone is using my SIN? (http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/en/sin/fraud/fraud.shtml)http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/img/servcan/sc_logo.gif

what im really trying get at is there are so many places out there where they can use my personal info and I obviously dont have accounts in every single so by the time I do get an invoice or something, it will be too late. my question is, is there a place where you can verify what you applied for (thru that SIN)?

What you want to do is monitor the credit bureau's for hits on your credit.

If you have a cibc credit card its a free service with equifax. They will send you an email or call if there is a hit on your credit. You can also pay for this service though other companies.

People don't have to have your SIN either to apply for things, you don't legally have to provide it for an application. It is useful for matching up you to your credit bureau so most lenders want it.
