I got mine at Zellers or Walmart, I can't remember, but I know it was one of those 2. Sizes are limited, but I know my gf bought longer ones before and just cut it with a hacksaw before and it looked fine.

HD has the 3 footers and 4 footers. I measured all my windows b4 I took possession of my new house and bought all of the blinds from HD!!!!

I personally find it's a waste of money to pay for those & then throw them out. Why spend the money twice:confused: We just covered windows with whatever we had, bed sheets, old curtains & even towels:lol: & then next month we ordered shutters. Everyone knows that it's a new house & everyone goes through the same stuff, so I don't find it unusual to have bed sheets in the windows until you decide on what you want to order:D
Sometimes I see those 'temporary' paper blinds stay on the windows for much longer than they were supposed to

If someone is on a budget, then if you do what you did, then you have no choice to put the window covering up immediately. In my case I needed to buy 4 brand new bedroom suites first, and still after 2 years, I still have the paper blinds up. Slowly, room by room, the wife and I will work on blinds, after we paint!!!!!

I guess everyone has different priorities & needs...for us we had to get shutters since the sun was blaring into our front windows...luckily in the back we have a ravine so we could take our time in deciding what to get:)
One thing with new houses, people should always budget for window coverings since there will be none when they move in & I know it adds up fast...

yah totally agree. it all depends on priorities i guess, we're saving up for california shutters and need to cover up 3 bedroom windows for now :). I wasn't going to spend a couple hundred bucks, so instead spent $30 at Rona and now have window coverings for all the bedrooms. An extra bonus was 2 of the windows are a standard size (48").

We just used that brown packing paper from Staples. You can get 100 for really cheap. You see them all over the place in new neighbourhoods.

+1 for Walmart; they have the paper blinds you can cut to size, and have an adhesive to stick to the top of the window. They even have a draw string, and work quite well.

We had ours up for about 1 yr, couldn't really afford the 1500 for blinds for our living/dining room.. But they are gone now. it's better than brown paper, esp when looking from the outside. they actually looks like pleated shades.
