Has anyone been to Fenway Park for a Red Sox game?

I am planning on going to Boston in a few weeks and I am wondering how many scalpers there are? I am used to Leafs game in Toronto where there are scalpers everywhere. So I am assuming it would be similar in Boston since the Red Sox are so popular. Can anyone comment?

I don't need to know anything about price (I know they won't be cheap)... I am just curious about availability.

I would just purchase them ahead of time from stubhub.com

Was in New York a month ago and got a pair of yankees tickets for $17 each, upper deck but behind the plate, great view.

It depends on the time and day of the game, but generally you can get tickets there pretty easily, although there aren't as many scalpers as for Jays games. I don't notice the many scalpers for Leafs games.

I have actually already checked out a bunch of these ticket sites. From my experience with Leafs tickets, online ticket sites like stubhub.com are significantly more than what scalpers even ask.

So right now I am more interested in finding out if I can expect a decent amount of scalpers to talk to.

Some cities may actually care about scalping. I know Toronto does not care (the cops rarely give out fines... they just ask the scalper to move to a place that is not so obvious). I assume this is how Boston will be... but I want to know if anyone can tell me from experience.

Personally, I wouldn't travel to Boston and then try to get tickets at the stadium from people. You're taking your chances after travelling a long distance.
A friend from work and her boyfriend just got back from the United States and saw Blue Jays games in Anaheim, Boston and New York.
They got the tickets well in advance.

Craiglist is more personal, as opposed to the more commercial eBay and stubhub

If you have time, check out the forums that sports fans frequent as well. Scout.com and baseball-fever.com comes to mind, they may/may not have tickets for sale but they will sure know where to direct you to.

Remember, this sports forum here on RFD is mostly for Canadians, I guess you can count the Sox fans on your fingers. My point is you will have more resources at your disposal if you go to the right place

Cheers!

it's a pretty long drive from here to boston.. i don't think you would want to drive all the way down there and be devastated if you couldn't find any tickets. i always just use mlb.com and go to the team sites to purchase the tickets, that's what i do with my jays tickets and i was close to buying some for a mets game when i was going down to NY for a couple of days. you better plan way ahead of time if you want good seats though because fenway is one of the stadiums where it's basically packed every game.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not going to Boston solely for a Red Sox game. I am going to be there for a few days and figured I would at least try to see a game. If I can't get tickets it's not a huge deal.

I obviously started trying to get tickets through the MLB website.... but they have long been sold out. I'm sure they sold out shortly after going on sale.... so this is why I am asking people if they have had any experience with scalpers there or know if there are lots of scalpers around there.
