Just read reviews, looks like it's a great movie. I am always into Musical movie, may give it a try tomorrow.

Yeah, I saw the Montreal premiere on July 4th I think, I won passes for that movie and I'm glad I went.
I was never big on musicals, other than Grease, Hairspray is the only other musical I've seen, but I was impressed.
It's a really fun, feel-good movie. There are no boring parts, or moments that are too long.
It's cheesy, innocent, super fun. Made me wanna get moving and singing the whole time.
The theater was packed when I went with my mom and everyone else was enjoying it too. Lots of laugh out loud moment, hand clapping and a standing ovation at the end.
The story line is pretty simple to follow, just too good or too simple to be true. I never grew up in the 60s so I have no clue how realistic it could be, but it doesn't matter.
I think every actor fit their role perfectly and the singing was quite good, the only voice that irritated me was John Travolta's. Obviously, his trying to sound feminine was over the top but funny nonetheless.
After the movie was over, I had some of the songs stuck in head and I wanted to listen to them again, so I found many of them on Youtube.. Sung along with the lyrics and just replayed the scene. It was so much fun, maybe one of the best movies I've seen this year.
It might not appeal to everyone though, since it's a really goody-goody movie and all the singing can be irritating for 2 hours.

It's getting really great reviews. I'm a huge fan of the 1988 John Water's original. I haven't seen the Broadway show, but am definitely looking forward to seeing this movie!

I as well saw Hairspray when I went to New York on Broadway. It was alright, but I was a 16 year old guy and dont usually like plays. The movie seems to actually be exactly like the movie, unlike others, like Lord of the Rings and Lion King.

I watches Hairspray yet!
What a blast! A great old school musical that carries you piggyback, dancing and laughing from beginning to end.
Hairspray, Chuck & Larry, Die Hard 4, and Fantastic Four 2 have already assured that this summer is a great summer for movie fans!

Saw it today.
It was blast, I love soundtrack and young players. I agree with the Ebert & Roeper's comment that we didn't need the Walken, Phieffer & Travolta love triangle and that they slowed down the film.
Live Free or Die Hard just got bumped as the Second Best Movie of 2007! :cheesygri
*for the High-Def*
I'm also excited that New Line announced that this will be their debut to High-Def! I'm looking forward for a Reference, DOLBY TrueHD and IME, HD DVD release.

Did Ricki Lake make a cameo appearance at the end of the movie since was the original Hairspray girl? I saw it at a drive in and the screen wasn't that close.

For those who haven't seen it yet, or love the songs, certain cinemas will have sing along karaoke lyrics on screen for audiences!
that looks like fun, but could get annoying
