We were planning to head down to NYC mid next week but now that there had been a steam pipe explosion we may be cancelling it since there are some asbestos still flying in the air.

I like to know what anyone thinks? Would you go or cancel?

I would still go. It's nothing to be concerned about.

New York is huge, the affected area is small, why would you cancel over this?

I'm heading down around the middle of august. Unless they locked down part of the city, i wouldnt be too worried.

Kidding right?
You are going top one of the most polluted cities on earth and you are worried about a bit of newly exposed asbestos from a pipe wrap? I really think the noxious fumes from vehicles (and people) will get you before the asbestos :cheesygri

yeah... go for sure.. Going in a week and a half and I am not concerned at all

The thing is a hear they are having a pretty massive heatwave there! I am more worried about that! In Toronto area it has been VERY comfortable over the last while.

I'm going on Monday and didn't give this a second thought after I confirmed that our hotel wasn't in the immediate area.

We got a call from the Letterman show two nights ago and so we now have "tickets" for a show.

I'm here right now, and I even walked past the damaged street. No cancer yet.
