I'm looking for Maine Coon kitten (female ONLY) - either free or very cheap, up to 3 months old. Preferably reddish in colour, may also be interested in white-brown tabby.
Please PM all offers and pictures if possible. Thank you.

Is this a wanted ad?
I don't think you're going to find a purebread for free or cheap. These kittens are worth a lot of money.

That's what PM's are for. If you have nothing to offer, please do not threadcrap.

Well, this place is obvious enough :) Though I'm open to ideas if you have any on where to get one of those.

Try calling breeders in your area! ;)
Now I'll agree with Tapeman and Urban, that was no where near a thread crap and was stating what is obvious to us and not to you (you're not going to get a PBred breed of the moment for free).... By the way, thread craps only are relavent in the actual BST section.

Generally it's very hard to find a free specific breed of cat unless it's not a purebred or the owner wants to get rid of it. The chances of somebody giving away these kittens will be rare vs your normal tabby cats. Btw what's wrong with a regular tabby?
Honestly till this thread I wasn't too sure what a Maine Coon breed was but it doesn't seem that special other than the long hair. But then I love my cat so I'm a bit biased.

Sounds like the OP wants to breed a Maine coon on the cheap.

That's what I'm looking for. And I'm not really in a hurry, so I can wait...

Not trying to ruin your thread or anything, but the chances of getting a Maine Coon KITTEN for practically free is extremely low...Good Luck. As previous posters mentioned, they're pure bred and cost quite a bit of money. Most people who pay to get pure bred pets won't dump them unless they have to and by then, the cat will be way past the kitten stage. It's far more likely for you to adopt a domestic long hair cat for what you're offering. And really, the breed doesn't really matter (oops, now someone will answer back about it)

About 2 months ago there was a 25lbs tabby coloured Maine Coon available for adoption from the Regina Humane Society. It was actually at Petcetera (I think... It was a pet store that doesn't sell cats/dogs, they team up with local humane societies) where I saw it. I had never seen one before and it not only was massive, it was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately where I live doesn't allow pets otherwise I would have snatched him up. Since seeing him I've really been interested in them and to buy, they are very expensive. Looking at Canadian breeders they generally go for around $800+. Finding one for adoption will be extremely rare, so I bid you good luck!

Yep, unfortunately they really are expensive. However, just in case someone got 'accidental' unwanted kitties, I'd like to get one.

Maybe you might have some luck at the Humane Society, apparently they're bursting at the seams.

if they got accidental unwanted kittens they most likely wouldnt be pure bred, and they would be sold $500 a pop!
Its like winning the lottery... I dont think its really worth the effort of a LF post when you can simply drop a few hundred and get one.

I don't have a pure breed cat but in regards to temperament my cat is just superb. You can easily find a beautiful long hair domestic cat with a great personality!

I think most owners that buy these pure breed kittens can afford to have their kittens spayed/neutered too. There seriously is a very slim chance of them having "accidents" and if they do, like another poster said, they are still expensive to buy.
