Mayor David Miller and several high-ranking Toronto councillors yesterday said they would consider a full casino at Woodbine Racetrack to help dig the city out of its financial misery.
Hmm... A fully loaded casino in Toronto... Could be interesting!

ill stick to RFD lotto pools.

If the casino is run like the city is run we may have the first casino in history that consistently loses money.

For some reason, I can only thing of the Simpson's episode where they decide to build a Casino there?
Remember when Simpson's was cool and everything in life could be related to Simpson...

A Casino should have been built a long time ago. Toronto is in dire need of one, when Montreal has one, and cities like Edmonton and Calgary has a bunch. I should NOT have to be force to drive over an hour just to get a game of poker in, the closest sanctioned poker room is in Brantford and Niagara Falls. The problem has always seemed to be that the province would object to it, so that people can flock to Casinorama and go to Niagara Falls for tourism.
I'm all for a casino being built in Toronto. Heck doing so would be first thing that Miller has done right for the city.

I think they need to better manage the money before trying to get more moeny (just to be wasted away). It's a good idea to generate revenue but on the other hand hald the revenue will be wasted so making it pointless.

Trust me, its terrible as-is..
I was at woodbine a few weeks ago.. just to pass the time.
Saw a guy sucking in $100 bills into..... get this... Penny Slots!
I was playing $5, but he was playing max bet, which is 1 cent, 25 lines (25 cents) with a 50x multiplier.. $12.50 per bet! in 5 minutes he must've put in at least $1000..It never even delivered a single bonus round out of it.
He was hitting the machine when he lost too much, and kept doing a weird wiping motion (I guess to wipe away the bad luck?)
I dunno.. I was in awe.. These machines run on a version of Windows XP..so I don't know what wiping and hitting will do ;)
But anyhow. Full casino, sure why not?

Montreal has a casino. And all I see is old people inside losing their pension funds yet coming back everyday. So the answer is NOOOOOOOo

Its a traditional gambling ritual where you are hitting away all the bad luck, wiping your slate clean, and hoping your wife doesn't find out about it.

How many people visit a city just to goto the casino besides casino built cities likevegas, atlantic city, etc?
How many people visit montreal for the intent on going to the casino? In the greater vancouver area, you have 3 casinos but I don't know anyone who vacations in vancouver for the casino's.

I visit Niagara Falls solely for the casinos. Just because bigger cities have other attractions then casinos, doesn't mean the casinos aren't a draw. All those people going to Casino Rama, Niagara and Windsor regularly, can just stay in Toronto and spend the money here rather then outside.

I don't like:
1. the garbage tax
2. land transfer tax
3. vehicle registration tax
but...
finally a proposition i can agree with.
why i like the casino: i choose to lose my money not ROBBED from me.

Hopefully the blackjack tables at Woodbine aren't anything like the thing they call a casino at The Ex (in terms of house rules).

I don't see why it shouldn't be running now. At Woodbine or even Mohawk, 10000 or so slot machines already. Are there different shades of morality ? Gambling is gambling, let people exercise their own judgement !
