Anyone know where to get maps for American cities for cheap here in Toronto? Or should I just buy it from somewhere in NYC when I get there?
Thanks

Are you looking for NYC maps or NY State? If you can make due with Google Maps or one of the other services until you get there, do that! There is an excellent visitor info centre at Times Square that has just about any map for NYC you could imagine for free. As well, if travelling by car yourself, once you cross into NY State there is normally visitor Info Centres that you can stop at that will provide free maps.

If you go to the NYC tourism website, you can email them to send you a free travel guide/map.

Thanks! I just wanted one for NYC because I'm sure google can get me from TO to NYC just fine, so don't need one for NY state.
Talamasca, I've done that before, but never got anything. Maybe it'll take a while to get here, so hopefully I get it within two weeks.

I would just buy it when I get there, that way it will be the most up to date. If that is of no concern, then just go to any Automobile Association office. If you are not a member they will still sell you a map. Be aware that New York City is huge and if you want a detailed street map, you will not get it on one map. You will need several.
