It started underneath the car while I was driving, based on the people who honked/stopped to help.

LoL,Well, there were a lot of rent-a-wreck signs inside their office.Maybe it was an affiliation. I think their name is Cheap 4 Rent or something like that.

I am happy to be alive. That's all

I'm guessing it's the asbestosish material (I don't know what it's made of but it does catch on fire on older cars) covering the CV on the passenger side. This can cause the tire to catch.

Hope you got full coverage :D

my dads old car caught on fire out of no where a while back, it was in a parking lot in the middle of the night so no one noticed until it was way too late, there was almost nothing left...it was so bad the license plate embedded itself into the asphalt
your car looks pretty bad...what is the rental company doing about this?

Truck drivers need to learn defensive driving.

They seem to be overreacting in certain situations. Like someone racing and cuts them off they overreact and jack knife the rig and kill other innocent people.

If someone's is driving reckless and you can not avoid an accident, then hit them, while braking as hard as you can of course.

This way the innocent people do not get hurt and only the "bad" guy gets a wrecked car he or she deserves.

Lol clearly you don't know anything about trucks.

Braking "as hard as you can" is what causes the Tractor and trailer to jackife.

actually yes they do. if the fire gets too close to the oil/gasoline, it will explode. it will fly like 20 feet straight up in the air. seeing the location of that fire, its a wonder it didnt explode.

I am a photographer. My phone takes videos. I didn't even think about using it. You see, video is time and pictures are moments...To me that's more precious and it can show more. That's why I can't understand people who hire videographers for their weddings, but forget about photographers. It should be the other way around..

Pictures were taken with a Canon 20D.

It may not be exactly them. Maybe their franchise. I saw a few of their ads inside on the walls.

I just wanted to save $10...:(
It's a good lesson to other companies to maintain their fleet better.

At least you are ok.

Warning bells should have been ringing when they gave you a 1995-6 Neon. Damn, do they even make the Neons still?

Reminds me of the time my friend got a 1996 Cavalier from dealership. The thing didn;t have any HP and about 15 minutes away from the dealership, the thing broke down and wouldn't start. At least it didn't catch on fire.

Did people give you funny looks when you started snapping away at your own balls of fire?

With camera phones and digital cameras these days, everybody's a photo journalist! Exciting moments in life will never be missed again. Makes everybody a witness and an "eye" on society in general, which may be a good thing, like that RSX kid caught in the hit and run scenario and caught before the cops even get to him.

These are the kind of positive things technology has brought to us.

BTW, friggin' amazing camera. Can I pose for you? Or better yet, I'll give way to B40 and his thong

Mythbusters proved this wrong. Don't know about the oil, but they fired guns at a gas tank, all they managed to do was make it catch fire.

They were using tracer rounds as standard ammo didn't work. By the time they go it to explode, it looked like swiss cheese. The possibility of an explosion still remains open.
