I didn't really know what section to post, so I'm posting this in Off Topic.
I got an invitation letter today for "Private E-bay Dinner Conference".

It's free dinner lunch for two + free iPod shuffle for attending the event.
I'm usually very quick when it comes to recognizing spam/scam, but I'm having a hard time with this one..
they have 4 seperate dates for the conference (happening in Novotel and one other hotel I can't remember) and they are giving me free stuff for attending.

Someone else must've gotten same letter.. what do you think?
There's gotta be something that this letter is not mentioning. This is too good to be true.
Maybe they will force you to buy some type of instruction DVD? Getting very curious.

If anyone else have gotten the same letter, please discuss..

They had that here in November 2006

Basically it is about selling on the web. How to get your business to #1 on google and other search engines. It has very little to do about e-bay.
You supper is a sandwhich. I think we got a roast beef sandwhich and a few veggis. For dessert was a piece of cake and for any hangers on they brought in coffee. You don't get to sit in the restaurant, you sit in one of the hotel's boardrooms where they squish as many people as they can.
They want to sell you web sites? for your business.
Our prize was a day timer with calculator-- very cheap.

After that 3 hour night they invite you for a full day course. It was held on a long weekend, on the Monday so most people are off work and can go.
I am not sure if the full day course costs you anything but I remember you can invite a friend along with you. They want money at this meeting.

The jest of it is they set up a website for you and promise that you will make lots of money selling whatever it is you want. The prices were expensive but I can't remember what they were. And of course if you website isn't working then they improve your website (of course more money)

These are one of those time-share esque types of things.
They lure you with free food (bad food) and free gifts (ipod shuffle isn't bad, unless they give you cheap chinese knockoffs - GOod chance of that happening).
Its not a scam per say, more of a bait and bait.

Yeah, they won't like tie you down and make you buy or pay for something, but they do everything they can to make you stay and buy something from them. Then you have to ask yourself, if this is SUCH a good deal, why doesn;t everyone have it yet? =D

look at the fine print on the back of the invite (I have an invite as well) ... it's not an ipod shuffle .. they're giving away a cheap mp3 player.
