Hey guys...
A bunch of us have to go to Ottawa for a wedding and we were looking for suggestions for a stopover for a night or 2.
We are thinking along the lines of a cottage resort. Somewhere they won't mind us only booking 1-2 days of a long weekend.
Are there any outlet malls on the way...any good shopping.
Any other good ideas for a stopover?

Why not just drive straight there and take a couple days to enjoy Ottawa before the wedding? Outlet malls, casinos, camping at Gatineau, etc. can all be found in the area.

Ottawa is about 3.5 to 4 hour drive so it isn't that far. You could always visit the Thousand Islands (if you want somewhere to stop over), or you could just visit Montreal. I don't think there is alot of outlet malls that way.

I drove there three weeks ago from Toronto on Friday night and drove back home sunday night....it's really not that bad...I did all the driving too.

ive flown and driven ottawa-toronto many times.
flying takes almost as long as driving if you factor in check-in and regular airport delays. Though being in the air for only 40mins is a lot more comfortable.

Ya gotta stop, just for a half hour or so, at the Big Apple in Colborne for a slice of pie. Best in the world (IMHO)

thanks for the suggestions all!!
I know that the drive is easily doable, but we're looking to make the trip a little more eventful.
We're thinking that we'll leave on the Friday morning and come back on the Monday. Friday night we'd like to do something different. So far the best idea we have is to stop over at a cottage resort somewhere on the way. We'll bbq and enjoy nature a little. Can anyone suggest a cottage resort along the way?

Cottage resort that still hasn't been booked for the coming long weekend AND one that allows you to stay only 1 or 2 days? Good luck in finding one, really !!
You may also try driving across the border in Gananoque for some shopping around Syracruse. There's also a casino on the Canadian side.
