Hi I'm heading to the UK & France from Aug 3 - 22 & I'm 23 living in Ontario.
PC (Emergency medical plan) quotes insurance at $30.
Any idea if this can be found cheaper elsewhere?
cheers

$30 is insanly cheap!
Im going from Aug1-Mid oct and TDCT is lookin to charge me near on $300.

I work for TD as well so i find it annoying that its so costly. $270 for 90 days.

Called RBC.
90 days enhanced: $236, basic $191
75 days 196/159
60 156/127

RBC seems cheaper so far.

Im gona give PC a call lol
* PC Quoted me at $129 on their online website. Doesnt seem to offer as much as the RBC one does though, which can be expected when your saving $100!

Ha ha ... maybe I'll go ahead and book it through PC.
Just figured it couldn't hurt to gage this price compared to others :)

Check out www.travelinsurance.ca. TIC is part of The Co-Operators.

They were the cheapest and had the best coverage for me. According to their rates, it's $1.15/day (min $16) for ages 0-30 for Non-USA destinations for the medical.

I found insuremytrip.ca to be cheaper than PC by $8 for a 10 day trip to US. I found out about this site through mousesavers.com. The coverage for medical emergency/hospital stay is a couple of million.

Insurance, like any other product, is a you get what you pay for situation. Firstly you need to decide what it is that you want from the policy and what the payout procedures are. Some insurances make you pay for everything up front and then you argue for reimbursement later. Others allow the hospital or emergency care facility to bill directly and have a toll free number that they can call.
Getting insurance that pays for only some things and not others or pays $500 for an hospital emergency visit when it cost 500 pounds does not do you much good. Costs are very different if you are traveling to the US or the UK for instance.
If you really want insurance for protection and are serious, then you need to shop for what is effective and applicable to your needs and fears in the country you are visiting, not just looking for the cheapest insurance and hope you are really getting something.
Fortunately most folks never need top use the policy they bought but that is the insurance part of it?
