Hi!
I seem to have a problem, when I bought my notebook my ATI X1400 was working and had 256MB on it. Now, I've updated to Vista Ultiamte and ATI X1400 only recognizes the my dedicated graphics card with 128MB.
Does anybody have a problem like this? The takeover of AMD on ATI hasn't produced much help either, I've already updated and roll-back drivers back and forth.
Any extra suggestions would be great. Thanks. Cheers RFD!!!

The Inspiron 6400/E1505 is equipped with an ATi Mobility Radeon X1400 256MB with HyperMemory
What that means is that the card has 128MB of dedicated memory and the other 128MB is shared from the system ram.

+1; I was just posting the same thing when you beat me to it. If the OP was told this card has 256MB of dedicated RAM, he was misled..

Just an FYI, the I6400/1505 has never come with a 256MB dedicated ATI video card. It's only ever been the two, so something was probably just miscommunicated to you somewhere along the line.

My online receipt shows 256MB as well for the X1400 that came with My Inspiron 6400. But it does not say 256MB dedicated so Dell left loop hole where they can say it means 256 with Hyper Memory.

I have the same config as you and recall that the receipt says that the "system" memory is "shared" at the RAM level - which is problably their loophole as this usuaully means that the RAM is shared off with video. So, mine shoes 256 for the video, but I always knew that this was not dedicated and onboard with the video card. Just my 2c
