ah, but does it have the MCE remote?

good call...it's not the same thing
no remote/ir blaster/software
FS is way overpriced, the going should be about $80 (the one with remote) considering you can get the HVR1600 for $100.

Actually, the futureshop one has the Microsoft remote, which is much nicer than the usual Hauppage remote and IR blaster.

what is the benefit of MS remote?

what is the benefit of MS remote?
None. xKagex must be referring to the non-MCE version of this card, which comes with a Hauppauge remote. The MCE version, which I own, comes with the exact same remote as the MS one, it's just rebranded. The button layout is identical.

I bought and returned mine @ Canada Computer for that price (XP version with remote and blaster).
PS - I am not 'endorsing' the HVR1600 or I'll be a hypocrite since I returned mine :~)
The function is good in the 1600, basically a PVR150 + the ATSC/QAM tuner for almost the same price.
I use WinXP, the WinTV software just doesn't cut it with this hybrid tuner like it does with my PVR150. Also the ATSC tuner is not as sensitive and didn't pick up as many channels OTA. I have to say I am happy I returned the card despite the restock fee.

I've recently been looking to get one of these, but I'm looking for one that can handle dual tuner functionality (been spoiled with ExpressVu dual tuner PVR for years, but recently moved where EvpressVu is not available).
Can the 150MCE or the HVR1600 do this? Or should I get the 500MCE?

MCE lets you have 2, 3 or even 4 tuners, all you gotta do is keep adding cards. You can be recording four different shows at once while watching a fifth pre-recorded show.

based on what I've read the HVR1600 is NTSC or ATSC not both simultaneously. - basically only one MPEG encoder. The MCE 500 is truly dual, you can record two channels/feeds at once.

Apparently there are 2 different versions of the HVR1600, one is a hybrid tuner, one is dual tuner, depending on the version of the card. You should be able to google the details, I cant remember the version number/date of production for the dual tuner.

I think there is some confusion, the hauppage software will only let you record one or the other but thats because its crap software... when used with Sage or other PVR software you can use both tuners (its not a hybrid).
The QAM tuner on the card is quite weird / interesting... you can hook the OTC tuner up to your cable line and receive QAM channels... I think these are regular channels as seen on the non HD Rogers cable box - BUT you can also see other people's PPV movies as these are broadcast as a QAM channel too. If you can stomach watching a movie with the chance that another person might pause it you can reduce your movie rental fees ;-)

What you say exactly.
There are 2 RF ports on the card, one for cable and one for digital (either OTA or QAM)
One word of caution on watching/recording ATSC, your CPU may have to be quite beefy, I know my AM2 Athlon3200+ is not good enough for some reason, could be because of the software/codec with the WinTV as well.
For anyone interested, the 74021 was the one I had and QAM worked (useless thru' Rogers though)

Thanks for the help!
Here's a forum thread that sheds a little more light on the subject:

Personally, I'm going with the 500MCE... it seems like the more idiot proof solution.

MCE lets you have 2 tuners. You need to hack it to get >2.

Does the 150 work fine with vista home premium as a tuner?
Don't want to buy it if there are compatibility issues. I know a lot of people use the card, does anyone have experience with vista?

Its close, but not identical. The MS remote has an extra power button that you can program to turn on/off your TV, so you don't need to keep the TV remote around just to turn it on/off.

According to Hauppauge, it is compatible with Vista: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/vista.html
