Hello,
Well i need some recommendations for a car. The biggest problem is i only have $6500 to spend on the car itself. I can only spend that much for the car because the rest will be going for insurance and repairs. So ive been talking to some friends and most of them say get either a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic. I was hoping to get something which is still a little sporty, good on gas, reliable, and must be automatic. Please help me out.
Help Is Appreciated!:D

Sounds like Acura Integra. I'm sure you can find a decent one for $6500..

I just don't understand people, the first cars out of their mouth are Civic, Integra and even..RSX. They are expensive (relatively speaking) to other cars because all the kids want them (maybe not corolla)...and don't forget the insurance if he's under 25
Well there are a lot of other very good cars, probably better bang for the buck...or should I say his $6500 bucks.
My vote 1999 - 2000 Altima or Corolla

Well he did say sporty, I guess the Integra would fall into that category, no?

Um, Integra fits his description perfectly and neither of Jetta/Altima fits both sporty and reliable category.

Who said Jetta? Not me... The older Altima is a very reliable car and for $6500 you wilkl get one with a lot less mileage and not abused....and I think it's sporty enough...not a sports car. It's a lot quicker than it looks too with a 2.5 L engine...and loads of torque. I had one for 4 years with a 5 speed manual....and I loved it. BTW: I have had 4 Integra's in my day ('87 4 door, '90 2 door, '91 2 door, '92 4 door..all manual)..loved the car, hated the lack of torque and the climbing insurance rates. Now I have Mazada3GT

Oops, my bad, I don't know where Jetta came from. But Corolla is nowhere close to sporty, and I did own 99 Nissan Altima till 3 months ago.. it has more power than it looks, but come on, the car looks below average.
I'm just saying Integra fits his description well. I would love to have Mazda3 though.

98 - 02 Honda Accord Coupe.
reliable, easy maintenance, comfort, looks (subjective?), decent on gas, not too many $$$ more than civic but you get more value, easy/cheap customization, easy to sell as well.
Be prepared to pay average price for this car (you can't find a "deal" for this), because everyone who owns the car, love it and there is always a demand for this

I agree...But for $6500 I think the Altima is a very good car for the money. I like the looks (I know I'm strange) I guess it's the whole package that I like.
Easy car to find used and not over priced. Easy to get parts, even from CT and has a timing chain, no belt...much cheaper insurance. Yeh the Corolla would not be on my own short list...slow and boring but reliable. Like a Maytag.

Jatt,
There is only one car for you: the Ariel Atom (http://www.arielatom.com/)! Allright, you may have to increase your budget somewhat; but the sportiness, style and handling WILL be worth it! :cheesygri :cheesygri :cheesygri

You want a 4dr or 2dr? Seems like you want a 4dr.
The 4dr civics are not really sporty so Id stray away from those. Same with the Corolla.
Integra (Have 4dr as well but not as common)
Acura EL
Accord
Nissan Maxima

The 95-98 Generation (I Think?) 240SX will be hard to find for the price he is looking for. A decent one anyway. Those things go for a pretty penny.

He could find one of these easy though.
An older Celica would be a decent choice. I was going to post that but was not sure if he prefered 2dr's or 4dr's but it seemed as if he wanted a 4dr. So I stuck with that.
The MX3 is a decent choice. It was an underpowered V6 car though and the V4 is even worse. It is un-classified according to insurance companies and not a sports car. So insurance will not be that expensive. (I checked with a few companies when I was car shopping and this is what they told me). The reliablility of these cars are suspect. You should have no trouble finding one for 6500.
The MX6, im not sure on insurance but again the reliablity is suspect. These share the same engine as the Ford Probe. So if you consider the MX6 prehaps consider the Probe?
