Is it necessary to have the original receipt if you want to get your 360 serviced/exchanged at FS under the PSP? Like they record the serial # of the console when you buy it right? I seemed to have misplaced mine.

No you don't need your receipt. It's good to have it in case they can't pull up your records.

well aparantly he needs it now ... yes futureshop would have asked you for a phone number when selling the psp. tell them the same number and they can look it up. go to customer service.

+1
All they need is your phone number. They *should* be able to pull up any and all Performance Service Plans attached to that phone number/customer. I have had a situation previously where one PSP that should have been under the number was not. It actually was in the system but I had to look it up under the contract policy number, which was a real b!tch.
If you have the receipt, it makes the tech's lives and CSR's lives much simpler. If not, you still shouldn't have a problem unless the computer system becomes one.
Good Luck on getting your 360 fixed. I'm so glad I didn't buy one...it's as if these things have been dropping like flies left, right and center lately.
EDIT: Assuming no one screws up at the tech or depot level, you should have your 360 back within 30 some days. If there are screw ups, or if there are time delays, then it'll take around 2 months to get any information or your 360 back. I'd recommend you write down *exactly* when you dropped it off. If you don't have your 360 back in your hands by the 61st day at 10am when they open up, demand a new one...because they sure as hell aren't going to call you to do this.
