Are they interchangeable like that? I'm sure somebody's tried in the past..

Probably not but they BB will price match them. So you can still get it at BB for the Futureshop price.

They run under the same system, and the POS system will accept it

HOWEVER, they are under strict orders from management not to accept it, on the grounds that a FS gift card will say valid at Future Shop locations only. Cashiers can get into a lot of trouble if caught doing so

So it will not work in store

They won't accept them at the store level, but since the system is the same, they should work on either website (also max 3 payment methods per transaction so you'll need to consolidate them ahead of time preferably at customer service desk if you need to use more than 3 for a larger purchase online or in store).

One note here: not if you use in-store pickup.

Even if you thought you charged it to your GC online, it's not actually charged until you pickup in store

This is good to know. So if you used a BB gift card on the FS website it might still not be accepted if you do a store pickup.

Yes, correct. Even if you use FS gift card on FS website, it will ask for your gift card number, but they don't actually take the balance out for whatever reason if you choose local pick up. Same with using credit card. You will be asked again for your payment method when you pick up your item(s) from the store.

I have heard though, from what one of the FS supervisors told me, that they will allow you to pay for your item at one store, but pick up from another store afterwards. Should be effective around September or so (according to her). This is useful if you have FS gift card on hand, but want to buy it for your friend/relative in another province with local pick up to avoid paying shipping cost.

I know that BB has accepted my FS GCs...I have been successful 4 out of 5 times.
the one time i wasnt was likely bc the salesguy was well informed and also maybe bc it was a $200 purchase...whereas the other times it was a $30 purchase at the front tills.

And the sure bet way to use one card at another store is thru Online Purchase (and delivery NOT instore pickup).

I have also tried buying online FS GCs with BB GCs as the form of payment...but it didnt work. Reason was you cant buy GCs with GCs period.
