If they want to they can. Agents make money by commission so they could if they wanted to or they could refuse if they feel that it’s not worth it for them.

If you find a better price, I typically will go with that agent unless there is a specific reason why I need to deal with one. Most of the time the agents are too busy nowadays where they don't keep their clients in the loop for any special deals. But, yeah the usually price match and exceed/beat by only $5.
