2nd half of the street address is not there. For example the address is Pine Cedar St.
and on the package it says Pine
However, the rest of the full address (postal code, city, province, country) and the name of the person is all there and correct.
Does the courier Chapters/Indigo use drop off packages at the house or leave it in the postal box?

With Postal code, you don't need street name.

A postal code is specific to a side of the street (odd or even) and a certain range of houses. If you have a postal code and a house number, most likely that's all that's needed. If no house number, but has your name, and you have other mail with your name that day, they may be able to figure it out.

If it's not an apartment, Postcode is sufficient. My friend received a letter with only the postcode and building name long ago.

My postal code covers 42 seperate houses on four streets. This explains all of the missing mail.

I live on a street that has three other streets with similar sounding names in Toronto and I'm constantly getting misdirected mail despite the postal code being completely wrong.
You're ultimately still at the mercy at a human, and sometimes, they just can't be bothered to read.

my sister and her husband waited for a long time for an item. it never came and after investigation from the company they found it was sitting at the purolator warehouse, street name was wrong. they wouldnt deliver it and my sister could only pick it up if she had ID with the exact address that was on her package.
it was a fight not to have it sent back to the company and they did finally get the package.

I received a letter a few weeks ago which had my complete address except it had Vermont instead of Quebec.
