Nothing much, but it's a 30 min ride from Miami which is more interesting!

If you're up to renting a car, there's plenty to do other than hang out on the beaches.

Head south to Coconut Grove, it's beautiful there.

South Beach...people watching, and only about 30 minutes from the airport.

Fort Lauderdale and Miami run along our Lakeshore Blvd like Toronto and Mississauga do (only a LOT nicer!!)

I have seen some deals to Ft Lauderdale and other Florida locations but really not sure whether Florida would have too much appeal since I am either too old or too young. I guess if I went to Tampa I could watch a baseball game and maybe the greyhound races ... good for a day trip or overnighter maybe. Since flying is cheaper than driving to Florida I have been wondering what places might make for more than an overnight trip?

There's the world's biggest outlet mall which is a great place to go IMO. Also you can do an airboat ride through the everglades. You can go for a stroll down las olas boulevard. There's also a boat cruise where you can see all the mansions and sweet boats along the water. It's worth driving down to Maimi as well... lot's to see there.

I like the idea of just renting a car (with A/C of course) and driving along the highway. There is so much to see along that stretch of road! But if you do go into Miami then bring a map! You don't want to get lost in Little Haiti like we did.

You may take a water taxi and visit the rich neighborhood with big houses on the waterfront. The city also houses the world's largest drive-in movie theatre. If you're into nature, check out the Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Else you can simply enjoy the beach on Las Olas Blvd.
