View Full Version : Embedding permanent subtitles on video files?

I've been trying for the past couple of hours to get subtitles on a .avi file I have. I originally had a .ogm with subtitle track embedded directly in the .ogm (which was selectable in players such as VLC), but I used a demultiplexer to demux the .ogm into a .srt (subtitle file) and .avi (video file). I ultimately wish to convert this to .dpg, but that is irrelevant.

I've tried many things such as VideoDub and KoSub, and neither worked. I googled tutorials and they all say to use these files, which don't work, at least for me. If you know of a way to embed permanent subtitles (from the .srt) to a .avi or any other videoformat (besides .ogm, or I'd be muxing and going backwards), such as .mpeg or .mkv, or other video files? I was thinking of 'burning' it directly to the video, so it becomes part of the video?

I'm clueless, anyone care to help? ; _ ;

Does the pause option not work on your VLC Player?
