Does anybody know any nice beaches near New York for a family vacation?

Jones Beach, Long Island (Wantagh) NY

I'd also like any info on beaches near NYC.
There seem to be several...so if anyone has any insight as to which one(s) is better (relating to crowds, cleanliness, etc) that would be really helpful.

Google Sandy Hook, NJ.

Though there aren't any hotels in the area.

atlantic city is just over 2 hours away. Decent beach plenty of places to stay.

If you go De Ja Vu night club is amazing. I think they pay woman to just flirt with you so you drink more. We always have a blast

I'm looking for a day-trip from NYC to a beach in the area (so no hotel required, but can't be too far away).
